6 months + milk

You mean a follow-on milk?

I was advised by midwives that there is no need to do so and it is fine just to stick with first infant milk.

I did decide however to go onto follow-on milk around 6.5 months :flower:

I was also advised that there is not need for a follow-on milk and that it can basically just bulk them up x

Isnt that the hungry-milk?

I heard follow-on is just same as first - maybe with added vitamins?

I havent, lo is on SMA LF, but even if he wasnt I dont think i'd bother as I know he gets a good variety of food groups in his diet :)

We put Daisy onto it at 6 months. she was a fussy eater and wanted to make sure she was getting her iron and vitamins :) x

ive not im too scared to change Ollie's formula with his reflux and stuff xxx

i was thinking about changing when she was 6 months but she was happy and content so i thought there was no need to disrupt her so shes still on first milk and will prob stay onit xx

I won't be bothering with it, instead LO will be kept on First Milk and he will also be weaned around 6months, so don't want to have too many changes for him

We haven't moved onto follow on milk BUT we have introduced goodnight milk as her last bottle before bed in an attempt to help reduce her nighttime wakings.

I won't be putting her on follow milk. My HV said there's no need for it as the first infant milk has all the nutrients they need up untill 1 year.

Sorry to hijack but did it work? I was thinking of doing that on the last bottle before bed but I'm not sure because LO is on SMA and the only night time one I could find was Hipp I think?

i think we started usng it around around 8 months ish, it wasnt actually a consious thing, i sent my brother out to buy milk as he was going to tescos and he cam back with the Aptimal 6 m+ but we have kept it on him ever since as i figured it wouldnt hurt to have the extra iron etc. x

i wasnt planning on changing but at 7 months she stopped taking the minimum ammount of milk, so it was recommended we move onto follow-on so we did at about 8 months.

As others have said - if your baby is fine on stage 1 milk, there's no need for follow on milk.

Another point, obviously it's up to the individual if you give your baby goodnight milk, but just be aware that it's got added potato and/or rice starch in it to thicken it up. Basically mash potato in a bottle. It's harder for LO to digest which keeps them asleep longer, but can cause constipation and tummy upsets, and the added starches in it can add to tooth decay unless you brush LOs teeth after.

My LO was on Hungry Baby and when we were weaning I was torn between going onto the infant milk or the 6month +. I decided that with her being on HB and eating 3 meals a day it wasn't ideal as really her meals should be starting to fill her up, hence the 'down size' in formula. I ended up going onto the 6+ even though at the start of our FF journey I said I wouldn't bother with it. If my LO had been on normal infant milk I would of most likely just stayed on that until switching to cows milk.
