On Friday at 6+1 I'm having my first scan. Previously I had a mmc, well it was a blighted ovum, discovered at 10 weeks so I'm fairly anxious about a repeat episode. It's an abdominal scan (not internal) and I was told we'd definitely see something but not necessarily the heartbeat. I'd love to see that but I've accepted we won't. I'm nervous about them not finding anything though. I o'd on cd16/17 so I'm thinking I might be a couple of days behind too. If you had a scan at 6 weeks what did you see?

hi mrs!

I had had a scan at 6 weeks with my first ectopic pregnancy and though the baby was in the wrong location, we could see the heartbeat flickering.

this time I had another scan at 6 weeks. we could see the gestational sac, yolk sac, and if I sat really still, a silly shape that was the baby and maybe one flutter before she lost it. it had me worried that I could see the first heartbeat much better, but goes to show it didn't mean much at all.

anyway, I'll try to attach my 6 week scan pic from this time around!

oh ps the other fun thing was that you can try out the Ramzi theory with an early scan based on where you can see the placenta forming. you can google some pics but my placenta is the whiter area on top :)

just had a look at the clinics website, it says 'We have a full range of ultrasound pregnancy services and can image the pregnancy for reassurance, growth and wellbeing from 6 – 42 weeks' Maybe they do have an internal wand thingy?!

eeeekkk I'm actually getting a bit excited now!! Sarah congrats on your twins!! Bee love, I totally should have asked you :dohh: forgot you had one! fx I get something decent to look at.

oh I had missed that part - I can't imagine seeing anything without an internal! My guess is that they have it

Just called them and they will do an internal scan. Feeling a bit better about that!

Any more pictures ladies? x

Oh wow Sarah that is so clear! I really hope I get something like that - even twins :winkwink:

Just please be sure that you're truly prepared to see less than everyone else seems to. I went in at exactly 5w6d and had an ultrasound done. The only thing visible was one perfectly round gestational sac. No yolk, no fetal pole, and certainly no heartbeat. The tech didn't seem concerned... But after spending so much time on here (and Googling) I was convinced that things weren't okay. It seemed everyone and their sister saw EVERYTHING by 5.5 weeks. I just knew that I was carrying a blighted ovum or something else was wrong. I spent my entire first trimester miserable and positive that I wasn't pregnant with a healthy living baby. I wouldn't even let anyone go to my 11-week scan because I was convinced that it would be bad news, and I wanted to grieve privately. I was a mess!

Obviously everything turned it fine for me (24 weeks now and baby girl looks great)... But I really wish things had been different in the beginning. If you're the type to worry a lot about how you compare to others, then I would consider rescheduling it for even just a few days later. The beginning of the 6th week is so up in the air as far as what you may see on an ultrasound, and I think having one done right then often causes more worry than it's worth.

Thanks isme and congrats! I had a blighted ovum before so it would worry me if we couldn't see anything. It's why I can't wait till 7-8 weeks when I know there's a chance I could put that worry to bed earlier. I do have another scan booked for 7 weeks incase that happens (I can push it back a week if all is ok) I won't lie, I will be very upset if we don't see anything but at least it'll only be one week before the next.

My 6+3 scan showed (and heard) a HB of 126. Good luck!!!

Hey there! I am having a 7 week scan tomorrow. I am pretty nervous as I have already had 2 miscarriages this year and both were at 7 weeks. I have had minor cramping this week as well so it makes me more nervous. I had an ultrasound in January and the sonographer was terrible - she knew something wasn't right but would not let on, just stated "everything is where it should be" but meanwhile I was having a miscarriage. Hope you have a good sonographer and Dr. I am going to a specialised sonographer tomorrow with a dr on site so if there is anything wrong she can tell me right away. Good luck to all of you ladies on here! :):flower:

mrs unicorn- hello, thought i would share my experience also.
I had a miscarriage, so was very apprehensive this time round in my second pregnancy. I had spotting when i thought i was 6w 5d, and i got an early scan. I had an abdominal scan and we saw a little heartbeat and baby. I was surprised as i also have tilted uterus which can make it hard to see, i was expecting transvaginal, and the baby was measuring a couple of days behind.

I have attached my pic for you, and wish you all the best xxx

good luck for your scan, having a miscarriage makes you much more apprehensive during the next pregnancy, i still worry about mine and i have had 4 scans, all which were perfect! I also had a lot of cramping in first tri, and it's eased off now but i still get it time to time x

Joey - good luck tomorrow. Mine is tomorrow too and I'm starting to dread it now :dohh:

Ally - thank you for sharing your scan pic, and massive congratulations! Cannot believe you could see so much with an abdominal scan before 7/8 weeks. X

haha i know, i was surprised... maybe im having a big fat baby :D

I had my scan at 6 weeks exactly (transvaginal w/wand). I saw a heart beat (112bpm) and the fetal pole measured 3.58mm. I have another scheduled for Monday at exactly 8 weeks, because I refused to wait until 10 weeks! I was terrified because of my previous losses.

Also ladies, it's so nice to see some of you here from our ttc forums! Success for us all!

I was just going to say the same lt!! So great to hear your news - congrats !!

Hi Mrs. Unicorn had an unofficial scan today just to verify lil bub in the right spot and we seen gest sac, fetal pole, yolk sac, and heart flickering away
With my daughter I only seen the gestational sac at 5+1 and had to wait till 7+2 to see my baby and her heart beat!!!
I've attached my scan from today

Thanks for all your stories ladies!

We didn't see baby unfortunately but we saw a lovely big yolk sac and nice thick lining. I'm behind a few days as I suspected (od a few days later than normal) possibly 5+4 or 5. Doc wasn't concerned at all, she said a day can make all the difference at this stage. Bit sad and anxious we didn't see baby but I'm delighted it's not another blighted ovum. One step at a time hey? We saw a bright white blob straight away then she did an internal where we could see the curve of the yolk sac. This pic isn't great - not sure why she picked this one. I didn't notice at the time or I'd have asked for a better one - I was too busy trying not to cry!!
