What a traumatic day me and my husband have had. I had an early scan today as I had some spotting, just a tiny amount but was reffered anyway. The nurse took some details and asked when I last did a pregnancy test. I told her the GP did one 2 weeks ago. She said she would do another one so I gave her a urine sample. 10 minutes later she called us in and said she was very sorry but it was NEGATIVE! She said my body had absorbed the baby and so I would'nt have a scan as there was no HCG and so no baby. We were devastated.. I told her I still had symptoms and so she did a test in front of me and again negative. I could'nt believe it. She said I must have a stomach bug but I told her I had felt like this for weeks. Just to humour me she got a different brand and tested again and this time:bfp:! The emotion we went through was unbelievable. She then did a scan and there was an 8 week 3 day baby with a strong heartbeat. She said the faulty tests would be investigated and she was sorry. Somehow sorry just doe not cover it. I am still shaking. Anyway it all turned out good but what a day!:coffee:

Oh my gosh! What a scare and a relief! I'd be upset, too!

Oh my goodness! What a day for you! Glad everything turned out ok for you.

I wonder if the tests were old or faulty?

omg that is shocking, so glad you got another test done and the scan :hugs:

How awful for you...sometimes tests are negative as you get further along...the very concentrated hcg just doesnt pick up...although adding some water to your urine and testing again (now sample is more dilute) can then give a BFP. Sorry you had such a horrible time...but at least the day ended well. Happy and healthy 9months xx

OMG thats awful, sorry to hear what you went through, could you imagine if you just walked away and didnt pursue it. So pleased you did though, mummys always know best!! Congratulations, hope you have a happy annd healthy pregnancy xx

Wow, that's awful. I'm so pleased it had a happy ending but I would be so upset to be told that! You're right 'sorry' doesn't even get close! Are you going to complain or anything?

Omg I could cry for you! Its one thing saying its a negative test (as it was) but to then sit there and explain what happened to your baby etc before double checking and scanning you is unbelivable!

So so glad it worked out well in the end and you must be so relieved, take some time out tonight to calm yourself down and have some you and hubby time as your endorphins must be surging after all that today! Wish you all the best xxx

That is awful! Im so pleased you got the :bfp: and the scan! Hope things go weel for you xx

no way :-O thats horrific!! poor you hunni!

so glad it all worked out though! cant belive she was telling you what had happened to your baby without a scan confirming anything! thats shocking!

still everything is well now, just have anice relaxing bath a chill out night!

hope u have a fantastic 9 months xx

Oh my god that's shocking what you had to go through! So glad that everything is okay now :hugs:

Oh my gosh!! That would scare me as well! She should have been a little more sympathetic anyhow considering they thought you lost the baby! How rude and inconsiderate some people can be! I am so happy for you and I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!!!

That is unbelievable!! Congrats on the good news though. I guess everyone makes mistakes, but that's a pretty HUGE mistake.
Good luck to you!

Oh hun, thats a terrible thing to have to go through!! Ill bet youre an emotional wreck!! Im so so pleased everything turned out to be ok for you and heres to a healthy and happy 9months!! xxxxx

This is just so awful to read until the last lines. Gosh, that must have turned u red in the face. I ma relieved it turned out well for u. Congratulations and hope you stay healthy all the way and have a beautiful baby

Thanks everyone. Feeling a bit calmer today. I just keep thinking about other people that could have been told they were not pregnant with these faulty tests and actually were. They could be out drinking etc not knowing they actually are pregnant. I think before they give someone devastating news like they gave us they should make it policy to double check. If I had not had symptoms I would not have questioned it and would have thought I was not pregnant anymore. You just trust what doctors and nurses tell you. Hopefully they will all get recalled and they can re test anyone they told had a negative test.
We are just so happy to have a so far healthy pregnancy. This was a surprise baby and it made us both realise how much we want him/her. Looking forward to my next scan in 4 weeks.x

That is awful!!!! I'm so glad she scanned you and showed you your healthy baby, though!

Omg! How awful. I'd put in an official complaint if I were you. Can't imagine what you must have gone through!
