Went in this morning for a doctor appointment. A month ago I had a scan and the baby was in the 90th percentile (4lbs 13oz. @ 30+5). They did another scan today and said he is in the 99th percentile (7lbs 11oz. @ 34+6). Doctor also checked my cervix and said I have a very low pubic bone. Basically baby would have to be pushed down and under that bone and back up and out.... He wants to do another scan in 3 weeks (38 weeks) to check baby's size again (assuming I am still pregnant then).

This is not the doctor who will be delivering the baby... I will meet him right after my 38weeks appointment. For technical reasons (hospital contracts were not renewed). But I still wanted to stick with my current doctor for all prenatal visits. My current doctor says that the hospital doctor is being kept up-to-date on my situation. He says normal delivery is not impossible but he warned me with the big baby and low pubic bone it does add to the difficulty. If my next scan shows the baby at 10lbs (+/-)... I will more than likely be given the c-section option. I personally think I would opt for it just because I don't want to risk the chances for an emergency c-section. With the various factors added up it will most likely add stress to myself and baby.

This is similar to me when I was pg with DD. She was measuring big (they said over 10lbs) and they offered me c-section. I decided to go with this. When she was born she weighed 9lb 4oz. Looking back I wish that I'd "had a go" at labour however, I don't have a low pubic bone. I actually went into labour (I was 41+5) and was scheduled for my section the next day. This time around it seems that baby is once again big and I am going for a second section. Like you, I don't want the stress and worry for me and baby, taking into consideration all the factors I've discussed with the consultant. Good luck - you just have to do what is right for you and yours xx

scans arent all together very accurate hun id take them with a pinch of salt but do what feels best for you at the time ive had one 9lb 10oz baby and one 10lb 12oz baby and if this one is a boy hes likely to be bigger possibly over 11lb, thankfully if its a girl i might get a 10lb something one this time but im not measuring large, i dont have GD and im planning an active labour and upright birthing position to help with baby's size.

scans can be out by 300-500grms and they normally overestimate in weight stakes as they only take chest/abdominal and femur lenght measurements when determining weight.
