Title says it all really- just wondered what is causing it??

love Charlotte xxx

Ds is 4 months and I'm expressing and bf xxxx

Could it be poor latch? Sorry no other ideas xxx

Could be thrush, is the feeling in the nipple or deeper in the breast tissue? Either way thrush could be a possibility. Also if you're expressing regularly sometimes you can be having the suction etc too strong without realising and it can lead to cracked nipples and other temporary damage which is then painful when baby is feeding....

It's in the nipple I think it might be from having the suction too stong on the breast pump. xxxx

I get that if i havent expressed for a while

I'd say thrush - exactley how I described the pain in my nipples when I had - get to the docs for some antibiotics :hugs:

antibiotics will make thrush worse!
agree go to dr's for advice, but they shouldnt prescribe antibiotics as this actually casues thrush.
hope your boobs feel better soon :flower:

Thrush didn't feel that way for me. I was more of a soreness.

I had the glass, sharp searing pain when I had some small tears on my nipple from LO pulling and biting. They looked like small paper cuts. I went to the DR and she told me to ask for Bactroban at the pharmacy wipe it off before feeding but keep it on all the time. It started to feel better after just a few hours and was healed in 2 days.

When I had thrush they prescribed cream for LO's mouth and my nipples and also antibiotics for the internal infection (infection was right back into my milk ducts) doc didn't prescribe it at 1st but midwife called him and told him I needed it and it cleared up within 3 weeks. Midwife did also tell me to take acidophilus daily to help beat the infection and to continue taking it once the infection had cleared to prevent re-occurance. I do now and have been fine since.

I presume you mean flucanazole, not antibiotics!

Thrush is getting really resistant to most meds. https://www.nbci.ca/index.php?optio...andida-protocol&catid=5:information&Itemid=17 gives some info.

https://www.nbci.ca/index.php?optio...-gentian-violet&catid=5:information&Itemid=17 is an alternative and there are some other natural remedies too.
