Lo still isn't herself. I think her teething may be covering an underlying issue. Her symptoms are...

*Red cheeks flaring every few hours
*Runny nose
*Pulling at her ears
*Rubbing her gums
-Very runny nappies (like almost plae green mucous now rather than poop that comes out with ENORMOUS farts - sorry for the tmi!)
-Nappy rash that is painful for her when I put bepanthen on
-Poops in the night - she very, very rarely has done this since I stopped bf at 6 wks

She doesn't have a temperature, she's still having some wet nappies and she seems like herself, just wants a few cuddles every now & then. This morning she doesn't want her breakfast or her bottle really though.

I think the starred thigs are to do with teething but all the nappy stuff I think might be a tummy bug. I'm going to call the dr later when they're open just to get lo checked over. In the meantime I have a few questions & would really, really appreciate any ideas!

1) Can I drop her food for a day and just give her bottles? I want to make sure she's getting enough liquid!

2) If I can just give bottles for a day is it ok to give stage 3 milk or should I go & buy stage 1? Will the extra iron etc in stage 3 irritate her gut more?

3) How do I do nappy free time to get rid of this rash without getting wee/sloppy poop everywhere?

4) If I do give her food do you have any idea what might make this better/worse?

Thanks so much for any thoughts you can offer :flower: poor lo

I'm not sure but I think it would be ok to just give bottles for now to make sure she gets enough liquid in her if she's got diarrhoea. Don't know about which stage milk to use though.
Is your bathroom carpeted or tiled? cos if its tiled you could do nappy free time in there and it would be easier to clean up (mop it up)
Not sure what food would make it better but maybe the BRAT diet? Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast - supposed to be good for dodgy tummies.

Thanks natsku! I haven't heard of the BRAT diet before so we'll give that a go. We do have a tiled bathroom - brilliant but simple!!!! I was imagining turning the living room into a CSI crime-scene with walls & floors covered in plastic lining!! :haha:

My DS always had bad nappies when teething - docs however disagreed and always said it was viral...however its no coincidence that every teething episode corrolated with bad poo's. Think its cos immunity drops when teething. As long as fluid intake is up and shes well hydrated no need to worry if off feeds. My eldest at 2.5yrs had many food strikes when teething - currently on one now cutting molars. I just make sure his liquid intake is very high

That is very reassuring to hear!! Thank-you. I am fairly confident she isn't dehydrated and am monitoring wet nappies, fluid intake, eyes/mouth etc.

Hopefully it won't last too long *crosses fingers*
