I'm a mommy of 3 boys. In Sept 2011 I started to miscarry so my dr did a D&E. I didn't realized I had gotten pregnant again and had another miscarriage in Jan 2012, it was so horrible I landed in the ER twice. I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant, so far this pregnancy is going good baby had a strong heart beat of 157!
I'm very nervous and terrified and slightly excited. Some of these mixed emotions is from my back to back miscarriages but also after I gave birth to my 3rd son things took a turn for the worst.
I lost a lot of blood, I went into shock from what I can remember because I was in and out of it, I remember seeing a lot of drs and nurses in my room, they were trying all kinds of things to control the bleeding, I was really cold like shaking they had several blankets on me but I had a high fever I had oxygen. At this point my mother had already left, so they are rushing me to the operating room and told me I need to give them permission. I said call my mom b/c I was in and out of it so I only know pieces and my mom knows about that kind of stuff, they said "its a matter of life and death you need to decide now" I said ok you put it like that do what you have to do. They said they may have to remove my uterus.
After I was in recovery they informed me they were able to control the bleeding without removing my uterus, they had to do an emergency d&c I required 3 bags of blood while in the OR and 2 more after I was recovering.
What are the chances this will happen again? I am anemic and my son was a 9 pound baby which is big for me, not sure if that had anything to do with it. I had no complications during my pregnancy only that i was huge and my iron was low. Any help, info or advice would be nice! Thank You.
