Hi all

we recently had some fertility tests done through the gp. the main issue is me. I have high prolactin, low progesterone and follicles on my right ovary so pcos is suspected. We've been referred to a fertility specialist and gp says they'll probably prescribe clomid.

My question is this really. How would clomid help? I'm ovulating on my own so the big issue seems to be low progesterone. I don't really get how clomid would help with that. I'm also concerned about the side effects and risk of multiples. I've heard multiples are always high risk. I already have one little boy (conceived naturally after 11 months) and I don't want to end up with a high risk pregnancy and birth that would affect my ability to care for him.

I'd be interested in other people's experiences of clomid, or experience with other forms of treatment for low progesterone

Tia

Why dont you ask about progesterone cream you can also get natural progesterone cream. You need to weigh it up there is a lot of natural remedies i have pcos and i take red clover blossom and i conceived my son using it and have had a loss using it too. Maybe investigate altenative methods. For me personally i wouldnt take clomid the risk for cancer is too high and i couldnt take that chance for my son in case he lost me. I suppose you need to weight up whether its worth the risks.

I didn't know about the cancer risk. I will definitely look into that, thank you. I've just ordered some progesterone cream! I'm hoping that's enough. Thanks for your response
