my story:

I had my midwife appointment at 6 weeks, and during this appointment we mentioned we want to be treat in a different hospital (Bolton), seeing as we had our fertility treatment there, and good experiences.

The midwife then told us she had to get different paperwork for that hospital, as she was the midwife for another hospital (?) (Warrington).

She told me she would ring us when she had the paperwork.

Since then i have rung here twice, at 8 and 9 weeks, to see if there was any news... Nothing, the last the conversation i had with here was 'ok i will ring Bolton hospital.. She never came back to me.

I am starting to get really anxious, i haven't had a proper midwife appointment, nor a scan date, and i am 11 weeks tomorrow?

Does anyone have advice on what i can do?

I feel like ringing the midwife and just going to the Warrington hospital, just to get things done!

Can you not contact Bolton directly? They must have an EPU there?
I don't see why you can't be treated there as it's a personal choice.. might just make it more awkward with the midwives etc - although it might just mean no chance of a HB and your antenatal apps etc there instead of with your local midwife?

I dunno, if it was me I'd complain at the Warrington one and find out my options. don't give in if you don't have to.. You should be able to choose, it's your baby!

thanks alot for your response!

I have just spoken to the Bolton early pregnancy unit, as suspected they have my name on the system, but no referral!

They were very friendly but the referral has to be done by the Midwife, i guess i will have to ring here on Monday and really push her.

Like my other half said 'she did look a bit dopey' lol

Cannot stand dippy midwives!! Let me know how it goes, once you've got through - and really go on at her, it's been weeks.. and like you say you should be at least booked in for scan etc by now.. If only to put your mind at rest.

It's good that your name is on their system, at least - that way when the referral comes through, it shouldn't take too long to sort things out, hopefuly.

Fingers crossed it all works out

I had problems like this last time, my midwifery care was from Southampton hospital and my antenatal clinics and the birth were at Winchester hospital. Two different trusts. Was a pig to get done at the off, but once it was done it was fine :) keep chasing her!

Argh how frustrating! I'm under warrington, and was when I had my little boy. They've been pretty good with me so far, but that sounds like a right pain in the bum!xx

Call every day for 4 days and then if you don't hear back, find out who her supervisor is and call him or her every day until you get a response. Ridiculous.

my midwife hadnt done a refferal for my scan and my name wasnt even registered but antenatal booked my 12 week scan (as i was already 11+2 when i phoned) really push the midwife as its your choice where you have your care x

thanks again for all the responses, i can only call her on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so i will start putting my foot down on Monday. I hate having to do it though.

Call bolton hospitals main switchboard on 01204 390390 and ask them if they can put you through to PAMU.......Princess Anne Maternity Unit, im sure they'll sort everythin out for you.....having had all 3 of my children there and also going to be having number four there i can honestly say that the reception staff and midwifes are absolutely brilliant, except a couple of the midwifes have a bit of a bitchy attitude, but thats literally just 2 of them, hope you manage to sort everything out hun xx

Update:

I have spoken to a midwife again (a different one, the normal one is on holiday). Explained what happened (again!). And i can't believe it, she said that the referral has to be done by your GP?! lol, this is only because i wanted to go to Bolton..

I am that sick of the worry of it all (worried about this all weekend), i told her i will just go to Warrington, it isn't worth the hassle.

So now finally, i have got my first appointment to see the midwife next Monday ( lol at 12+1) and she told she would ring the hospital to book me a scan appointment.

well i won't get to excited until i see that letter come through the door!

thanks for the advice ladies, normally i would follow it through, but i don't want to worry. This has caused me enough stress.

Time to relax now (hopefully :) )
