advice on early scans please!

hi ladies

just wanting some advice, ive been offered an early scan due to family problems, my last period was 27/07/10. im pretty sure i ovulated fairly late in my cycle and think at present im just over 4 weeks. the scan date they have offered in 2 weeks, but i think at this time i would only be about 6 weeks (i may be out on dates i guess). i just dont know whether to ask to move this back for 3 weeks so im a little further gone... whats the chances of seeing HB at 6 weeks? ive read lots of worrying stories and dont want to put myself through this although i obviously want to go early as i'm so excited. what would you advise? anyone been through similiar? thanks

I am having a scan on tuesday, I will be 6 weeks and 4 days, and when I scheduled it, they told me that we should be able to see a heartbeat then.

I will let you know on tuesday how it went!

After have a m/c in June, when I got pregnant again I had an early u/s at 6 weeks (exactly) and then 8 weeks.

Both were internal and we saw the hb at the 6 week one so it's def. possible!! You may want to put it back a week just to be on the 'safe side' as many women on here have not seen the hb until 7 weeks. But I am sure you'd be fine with the 6 week one.

I had an internal scan at 5 weeks and 6 days due to bleeding (all was fine!!) I saw the heartbeat then. He measured tiny in comparison to others (2.3mm), even my sisters twins at the same stage are bigger, so I think I might even be a few days behind.

You can never tell though hun, some people will see a hb that early and others won't for loads of different reasons.

If you can hold out until 7 weeks I think you will be pretty definite to see the hb, but at 6 weeks the chances are high, but not guarenteed obviously x x
