This was my biggest gripe in previous two pregnancies and at 14+1 it has landed with a veangence! I'm away from home and about to hit Boots! Any suggestions ladies ... I hate aniseed. Seem to remember midwife gave me Mucogel (tasted gross but worked) but I need advice on a short term over counter fix! Please someone tell me there is a magic new cure out there! Xxx

Have you tried gaviscon? I find that helpful but i hate the taste of the tablets getting stuck in my teeth!!

An at home remedy that a nurse told me about that works in mix 1 teaspoon of bicarb soda with a quarter glass of warm water and drink it... It's brilliant!!! (and if you bake like me, i always have bicarb soda in the cupboard)

Also a glass of milk, or some yoghurt can be soothing.....

gaviscon do mint and lemon flavour but still taste like crap imo . this is also the only thing that plagued me in both my pregnancies
i found to sleep slightly sitting up and drinking cold milk helped but by no means cured

I swear by rennies.......but everyone is different....

I second the gaviscon. I keep a bottle on me at all times now!

Thanks guys, think I may try bi carbonate of soda! I actually drank so much milk in previous preggos that my midwife had to warn me off. Too much can turn the stomach too alkaline causing it to make even more acid. I will keep you posted on what works x

I'm living on gaviscon at the mo, I get such bad heartburn that it make me sick and feel faint, I got the tablets always in my pocket and a bottle of the liquid upstairs by the bed and a bottle in the kitchen lol

weird as it may sound i drink a glass of milk when i have heartburn, and it clears it!

ive been suffering from bad heartbirn pretty much all the way since BFP, i live on gaviscon and asda's version of it (cheaper and thicker, seems to work much quicker!!) I have tried the gavoiscon tablets which work the same just not as quickly

Hope this helps. (as someone else has said you can get different flavour gaviscon, but i have only seen the lemon flavour in boots!)

I've been on peppermint tea and also gaviscon which i prefer to rennies as i cant cope with chalky things at the mo.

hi, keep away from soda, chilis, thai + indian food, black pepper, any kind of pepper, too much sugar and processed snacks. if you keep the regimen up, your heartburn will go away. basically you should be eating very mild boiled food. I know you might be craving something else. But this helped me.
I also soothed my heartburn with plain natural joghurt before going to bed. And had a cup of it next to my bed side... a small spoon at a time... like a teethless nanny... lol.

good luck!
