iv been prescribed polyfax opthalmic ointment for conjunctivitis and blepharitis, i forgot to mention im breastfeeding. the advise on the leaflet just states ask your doctor or pharmacist :dohh:
iv search on the internet about the safety and cant find anything, not even on kellymom.

have any of you ladies had this and it be ok to take

its main ingredients
polymyxin b sulphate and bacitracin zinc,

i would just call my doctor and ask but they are closed till monday

:flower:

I would think that they are just covering their behinds by the whole 'ask your doctor or pharmacist' thing; if it was truly unsafe while BF it would instead say something like 'it is not recommended you take/use this medicine while pregnant or BF, if you have been prescribed this by your doctor and your are pregnant or BF, please speak to them before taking/using this medicine'. AFAIK ointments and drops for the eyes are not really absorbed into the bloodstream, I know as well that the two ingredients you mention are used in an ointment that is licenced in many countries for topical use in babies (it is commonly used to prevent/treat bacterial causes of nappy rash, for example) I'd imagine the baby would get far more of a dose direct than if you used it in eye drops xx
