After your D&C?

Hello everyone,

I had a D&C 6 days ago. Still having mild cramping and some bleeding. I'm not too worried yet, but it's not what I was expecting. The pain is mostly just below my ribcage, and doesn't feel like menstrual cramps at all. Has anyone else experienced this?

(The pain isn't unbearable - it's just the constant reminder of *why* I'm feeling it.)

I know you're all here because you've suffered a loss, too. I'm very sorry for your losses, and thank you for sharing your experiences.

I had a D&C on 11/13/12 and I continued to cramp until 11/20/12....I am still bleeding it's all old blood though. I'm not sure about under your rib cage but you could always call up your doc just to be on the safe side. I'm so sorry for your loss and hope you feel better soon.

Hi hunni, so sorry you've had to go through this I had my ERPC 15 days ago and had very bad bleeding for a week with cramps, clots etc and then the last week its just old brown blood with no pain. With my first and second ERPC's though I only had brown for a week which just tailed off and no pain at all. I've not heard of such high pain so maybe you should just check it out with your Dr to be on the safe side. Hugs xx

I had a D&C in October (emergency - after misoprostol didn't work). I had pain under my ribcage and it was gas. It bothered me enough that I saw my Dr and she told me it was gas. I can't say that is for sure what yours if your bowel movements have slowed down (which they often do after surgery) and you are still eating regularly, it could be that. Check with your doctor though to be sure

Thank you, Donna and Pinkgeek. I'm so sorry for both of your losses, and I really appreciate your taking the time to write. I called my doctor today, and she said it didn't really make sense to her, either, but I'm going to go in to see her on Friday. (I was scheduled for a follow-up next Thursday, so it's almost a week earlier.) The bleeding is slowing down a bit. I am starting to wonder if maybe it's a hernia - but can't see how that would be related... (Perhaps it's not.) I hope you're all doing OK.
