Because if you consider that some families have a lot of children, even 5 or 6, that makes the odds of a youngest and oldest couple pairing smaller? Thats how I thought anyway. Obviously were not counting only children here, so we cant go by 2 kids being the average in the equation. Hmm
When you consider all the different kinds of pairings - youngest/eldest, youngest/youngest, eldest/eldest, middle/middle, eldest/middle, youngest/middle - then statistically there should be a lot more people that it doesn't apply to. It should be about one in six, but it's actually almost 50/50.
