Hope i get a reply this time but am wondering if i should give my Lo a little of this dish or make a different one for him? its called lamb kleftico and its cooked in a slow cooker over 6 hours but 100ml of alcohol is used, which sounds a lot to me? iv read that alcohol burns off but does it in a slow cooker? there seems a lot swimming around still but that could be the juice from the meat? thanks

I wouldn't use alcohol for cooking if feeding to a baby.

The alcoholic content has probably been boiled off but I still definitely wouldn't risk giving it to a baby. Even if you could be sure the alcohol has burned off the end product (ie: vodka with the alcohol burned off) doesn't sound suitable for a baby.

I'd try just leaving out the alcohol next time - I find that dishes like that seem just as yummy if made with a little extra stock or water. Or add the alcohol after the slow cooking at the end, but before that seperate out a portion or two for LO.

Thanks,i didnt risk it in the end but i googled it and all said it was fine??! but i also thought it looked too dodgy so did a quick pasta dish for lo x

It should be fine, all the alcohol disappears in the cooking and just leaves the flavour. I make beef and beer and beef and wine stew which Maria eats.

I thought so!!! but was just a bit worried because it was a slow cooker? do you think the same applies? x

It is fine. Alcohol in cooking is cooked away, you will not find any alcoholic content at all, just a lovely flavour!
