Hello. I have been told that I have hostile cervical mucus and also that I do not ovulate well. I am about to have my 2nd IUI done sometime next week. I have been given bromocriptine, cholmid, a trigger shot, progesterone and this cycle will will also take estradiol/estrace.

Question: Please give me any feed back you might have on alcohol and fertility. Could is have prevented pregnancy before I started all these meds and/or after the meds. Could it have caused my hotile cervical mucus? I am wondering if I correct my diet and stop drinking alcohol all together will it correct the hostile mucus? I have already decided to quit all together. But I just want any feed back at all in regards my situation. I had a child 10 years ago and now I feel so confused and the "why me". I just always assumed it would not be an issue when I was ready.

PS. I am a new member...prayers to you all who are trying to conceive.

Thanks.

This is just my opinion:

I plan on drinking till it's pink.

I don't think that alcohol creates hostile cm. I think it's definitely healthy to cut back (depending on how much you drink in the first place) but I see no reason for me, personally, to cut it out of my life completely. Same goes for coffee. Anything to the extreme could have health consequences, but in moderation you should be fine.

What has your Dr. said about your hostile cm? Is it just that you are not producing enough? Or is it something else all together?

Drinking alone wouldn't necessarily cause hostile cm imo but a diet with refined carbs/sugar and drinking could be an issue for some women for certain. As pp said moderation in everything and try to have a holistic approach and not place too much value on any one solution. I found that eliminating a good portion of refined foods helped me get each of my bfp's...unsure if it was the biggest factor but it happened to be something I was doing each time I got pregnant. Good luck and hope you get your bfp

I am not sure. This is what I know. This is all new to me. I took my IUD out about 3 years ago and I just never got pregnant. I didnt think much I kept thinking it was just timing and I did not do much research or monitor ovulations. In March I decided to go see a specialist. She mentioned some of my labs were out of wack to include that I do not ovulate "well". She gave me a sono and prescribed cholmid. I went in after the chlomid and we did a mucus test were all of the sperm were dead. She said I needed to do IUI's to get PG. I also take bromocryptine, progesterone and estrace. Now I am reading all sorts of stuff on CM, how chlomis can affect it and I took that before I did the mucus test so I am not sure what is EXATLY wrong me. :((((((((((((

I took clomid (long story but basically I didn't get any periods after coming bcp, no clue why, all labs were great). When I took clomid the MD also had me come in and checked my cm and stated all the sperm were dead. She gave me a script for hubby to go get his sperm checked and then said if anything they could do IUI. Lo and behold.. I got a BFP 6 days after that.. they think I had just ovulated when I started clomid and was basically "pregnant" just had not implemented yet. So you never know, none of those tests are 100% the only thing that is 100% is a BFP. I stressed out too about the hostile cm.. I think I even posted a threat about it.
Try preseed.. it helps create a EWCM environment.

t1017...so you are saying that you were already preggers (but you did not know it at the time)...but they told you all the sperm were dead. So you assume that was because of the cholmid?

It makes no sense to me why my doctor did not do the test before the cholmid. Very frustrating not to know what is wrong with me.

I must have ovulated the day before my appointment (app was on Monday) and I had EWCM on Sunday. My MD did do bloods to check for pregnancy but now thinks it was just to early to see.
Clomid is known to turn your cm hostile. So its possible that's what it was. Also, the test that do to look at the sperm in cm is very outdated and not used often. I would try using preseed it will help you even if CM is not a issue for you.
