Am I being silly?

Hi ladies just need some advice really- went to docs last week to advise I was pregnant and the GP said that they no longer deal with any antenatal care but he will refer me to the EPU which he said would take a few weeks? (central Scotland is where I an btw ) anyway I said we were very excited about the pregnancy (Tis our 3rd child) but I had this gut feeling something wasn't quite right and I explained I'd had problems with the last two pregnancies including a threatened mc. Well he then started to ask me if I had a history of depression, whether I felt depressed and what medication I could take for it?? Well I was totally confused and said of course I'm not depressed! I'm just not feelin 100% well. He then asks if I wanted to continue with the pregnancy!? To which I obviously said of course we do why would you ask that when I'd already said we were a little shocked but very happy- a happy surprise! I felt as though he was just completely dismissing what I was saying then he ended the convo with "well you are very early- alot of things can go wrong". Well I just left a little confused at how I wad treated!

Well over last week I gradually started to feel crampy and headachy then on Friday the headache got worse. On sat morning went to toilet and had pink discharge by sat lunchtime I was cramping quite badly right around my lower abdomen and loads of achey pain in my lower back. The pink dcg later had streaks of red blood. The pain got worse and tbh I thought - this is it (mc) and went to bed. I had the pain right thru til Sunday afternoon but no heavy bleeding. This morn still have the pink and blood streaked dcg and still a dull
ache right around back and lower ab. I phoned the docs this morn but can't get seen til 4:20 this afternoon as I've not been assigned a midwife yet. I don't know if in worrying over nothing but the pain doesn't feel like the stretching pains I had with boys 1 and 2. I'm very pale with dark circles under my eyes too. I didn't call a doc over weekend because I couldn't get out of bed and in the house myself cos dh had taken kids camping. Luckily I'd kept snacks and a jug of water by the bed! Any1 had anything similar to my symptoms or u think I'm worrying over nothing? I really doubt my instincts sometimes the feeling I have right now is like bad period pains xxxx

gosh your doctor was so insensitive! Sorry you have been treated that way and it has added to your worries.

I think you need to phone the EPU as soon as possible, tell them about the bleeding and cramping and get in as quickly as possible for a scan so you know if your pregnancy is ongoing or if you have miscarried. If phoning them directly doesn't help, be very insistent when you get seen this afternoon that you want an early scan as soon as possible.

I have had bleeding & extreme pain since Friday morning, i have been taking strong painkillers as Gynae ward wasn't sure what as causing the pain, well after a bit of self diagnosing i went to the Drs yesterday and he diagnosed me with a UTI and has put all my probs down to this, keep drinking lots of water and see if you can see a different gp for a 2nd opinion, sending you lots of hugs

Am I able to phone the EPU without being referred? I don't know It seems to have all changed since I had my last child. And then I've got two school runs on top of this to deal with! One in half an hour then again at 3 pm ive no one else to do it so I think I might aswell wait to see the doc now, agonising as it is

Can I just ask u huni, were ur symptoms similar to mine? Xx I haven't had any pain when peeing which is why I thought it can't be a UTI? Thanks hun xxx

Hugs!! That was awful how the doctor treated you. And I really hope that all is well with your pregnancy, I would call someone, and at the least have some blood drawn, and check your levels. Hugs!! KUP!!

maybe you could phone NHS24. Do you have a fever at all? I would be very careful if i were you and get seen straight away. If you have pain in your lower back and have cramps it could be ectopic. Hope everything goes well for you. Thinking of you x

I live in Edinburgh and you can definitely phone the Early Pregnancy Unit at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary direct(tel 01312422425). They are really lovely and will take anthing you report seriously. They are open from 9.00-4.30pm every day including weekends. I note that you live in central Scotland. Even if you are not in Edinburgh, I would phone them now for advice and they can put you through to your local EPU. I have had to deal with them several times due to 2 previous miscarriages and they have always been so lovely to me. It may be something minor but you need medical advice. Also need to rule out ectopic if you are having pain and bleeding.

Call epu and see what they say. Can you get someone else to pick your kids up? X

Hi ladies an update- got to docs saw a different doc who was lovely completely different to the last as soon as I told him he was examining my belly, asking about previous pregnancies, got me to provide a urine sample which he said was fine but will send to the lab anyway and is getting a scan arranged with the EPU ASAP. So he said they they'll be in touch in the morning and if not I'm to phone him directly. So wasn't expecting this so fingers and toes crossed for me please! Xxxx

Hi ladies un update for yous my friend took me in for my scan today, and lying there I listened to the nurse (sorry can't remember the proper title!) say that she could see an empty sac, then my pal leans over and shouts no wait I see something up the top move it again! So the nurse moved the scanner around and there it was, my little jelly bean, and again my pal says 'it's flickering! That's it's heart! It's brilliant it's fine' at this she was asked if shed like job lol I'm so glad she was there though because I couldn't look at first, I was too scared. So the bleeding they said was it burrowing in deeply as there was a bruised area. I also have ovarian cysts which they said could be causing the pain I had/ have. They said they'll keep a close eye on them throughout. I'm so happy but now omg I feel so paranoid about it all but I suppose that's just normal. I just wanna say thanks to all u ladies for the support on here I'm glad I found this forum as the one I used in my last pregnancy doesn't exist anymore! xxxx
