Hi I am 31 weeks pregnant and on toddler will be 15 months when newbie arrives. I had planned to keep josh in his stroller and I have .a Kali sling for newbie. I was all set and happy to wear newbie but everyone keeps saying I will be restricting myself and I will regret not getting a double pram. Does anyone have any experience of this will there be b crossover point that I may need to consider one...josh has been walkin a month but I am not sure on what age they can walk for a period of time

I think your idea is fab! My two are 21 months apart and I had a Phil and Teds double. My DD was worn 80% of the time in my Kali or Close sling.

The only time I used the double was when I wanted more storage space to carry things when out and about!

If anything I'd say it's less limiting to have a single buggy and sling than a double pushchair.

I would also say that if anything, wearing baby #2 will help free up your hands and time to be with your toddler :)

Phew thanks I suppose the thing is most people who have had an opinion don't really get babywearing I bet that I would get the same responce about wanting to breastfeed again...the don't make things harder for yourself comments....i Will see how I get on first but I love the idea of wearing my newbie

My kids are 23 months apart. We have a single pushchair with a buggy board, plus carriers. When my youngest was a baby, I just put her in the carrier when we went out, or my oldest would walk and use the buggy board when she was tired. Mostly it was ok, but there was a point when I desperately regretted not getting a double - I think it was when I was in a tube station entrance with my youngest on my front, trying to get my oldest onto a travel potty and my youngest's legs were in the way of me squatting down that was my lowest point about it! It passed very quickly though and now I am happy we saved the money - I would have gone for a pretty expensive double so it did save a lot.

For me, the buggy board was my saviour as I'm not a full time babywearer, but if you are then you will be fine. What has also helped a lot is having a carrier suitable for my oldest too, because sometimes she didn't want to be in the buggy and wanted to be carried too. I find it easier with the older child on my back then the younger child on my front, but I guess that's personal preference.

I have never baby worn lol so I don't know how I would get on but I figure if I need a twin pushchair I can just buy one. Tbh I don't really use my stroller a lot I tend to go visit family and to toddler groups but I would say that as long as baby likes the wrap it would be a lot of money to fork out unless needed. I have already told hubby I will get shopping etc either when oldest is in bed and do a big shop together. I think its like you say in previous post there will be times. My sister said more later on because if oldest is in a shop tantruming when he is walking then its nice to have the pram for him too as I can pop him in there rather than have little one. I am now sure how long I will be babywearing for or if I will take to it even its just peoples looks when I say I won't be getting a double pram like they know something I don't lol

Would definitely be easier with a single buggy and a sling, I've borrowed a double buggy when babysitting for SIL and it's awful. I still carry my DD now at 26 months and when we have another I won't even be buying a pram. People think babywearing is really limiting until they see it in action :) x

I have 16mo twins and very rarely use the double buggy. Mainly have one on my back and one in a single. Has been this way for ages! I hate my twin buggy, even more so when trying to use public transport!

I got an icandy apple/pear combo when preg with dd, it has been used as a double about 3 times in 4 months. Think we should have kept the single buggy! DS and DD are 14.5 months apart.

Okay I have 2 that are 23 months apart and tbh, I find it more of a pain to take the double stroller out! For my toddler I have a small easy to maneuver jogging stroller and I wear my lo in the ergo...I prefer it this way. The front to back doubles are hard to push and maneuver and the side by sides are huge and obnoxious and hard to move around the store.

I see women with strollers all the time pushing them around the playground while chasing their toddler and I just want to tell them how much easier it is to baby wear!

my boys have a 20 month gap, i had a tandem stroller with 1&2 and it was handy to stash bags on but soooo heavy and cumbersome when it came to going out esp on the buses etc... when ds3 came along then ds1 was 3 1/2 and happy walking everywhere so i ditched the tandem and got a single and a started using my carrier, with one walking, one in the stroller and one on my chest we got on quite well for a long time ds2 started wanting to walk by the time he was 2 1/2 and we got a buggy board for him since we were doing the school run for ds1 daily and ds3 went into the stroller if it was raining ( my jacket didnt close around both of us by this point he was too big ) or was in the wrap with ds1 normally on his scooter. We will be getting a scooter for ds2 for his 3rd birthday and both the older ones will be scooting or walking, ds3 in the pushchair or buggy board if hes tall enough ( he started walking 5 months earlier than the older 2 did ) and the new baby in the wrap or in the stroller. I am replacing my worn out Mc-claren stroller though as it is getting rather useless to use

I've only used my double once and it was a pain in the ass!

Used my double a handful of times.

I have a mothercare spin as my pushchair and from about the time when DS was 4 months and DD was 25 months I've been able to swap them around. So start out with toddler in the pushchair and baby in the carrier. Toddler decides to walk, layback pushchair and adjust straps and pop baby in pushchair. Toddler gets tired, baby back in carrier, toddler back walking. And the great advantage of taking a pushchair out when babywearing is you have somewhere to balance your nappy bag!!

DD walks (almost) everywhere now.

I think when you got 2 little kids though you need options depending on where you are going, for how long and what you are carrying.
