I am 10 weeks pregnant today with a history of MMC's. I have been having weekly scans and baby is appearing fine on each one (however not really that reassurring as I have seen HB with other pregnancies) I have never bled or had pain with any of previous losses and only find out through scans and then go on to have ERPC procedures.

Last night I went for a wee and when I wiped there was a smear of red blood - I panicked!!!!! All day I had felt like I was going to come on my period - heavy feeling low at front and achey back but no real cramping.
I went to my local EPAU and after a wait had an internal scan - Nugget was fine and my partner saw them moving which was wonderful. The probe had some brown blood on it when the scanner removed it and we have been told we are having a threatened miscarriage but there is simply nothing anyone can do.

This morning I have awoken and gone to the toilet where I lost more brown blood (this time it fell out as opposed to me just wiping) I have a back ache and cramps in my stomach. I started amoxicillin (antibiotic) yesterday for a water infection and also have had sever diarrhea this morning - Im wondering wether its related to these tablets???

Im petrified that I am going to lose this baby too, I have so far passed my own markers of 7.5, 8.5, 9.5 weeks whereby I have lost before and only have 4 days till I pass the last one of 10.5 wks so was feeling prob the most positive I have yet.

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms and what was the result - Even it it was a MC I would rather know so that I can try and mentally prepare for the heartbreak that would be impending.

Thanks xx

I honestly wish I had all the answers you're looking for, but I don't think in this case anyone can....when it comes to MC's the symptoms in general may be similar but the experience incredibly individual.

I have hope for you because you have made it further than your other pregnancies & it would be easy to presume that any blood with someone with an MC history such as yours will predict another MC. However it was always my knowledge that brown blood is old blood & doesn't necessarily mean an immediate threat. A lot of the time it is where the body just is a little slow in getting rid of 'stuff' it doesn't need in order to help keep the baby healthy.

I will be thinking of you & hoping/praying all is ok. I know it isn't much to console you but hope it helps. Be brave sweetheart, all the way, be positive.

Hugs xxx

gd luck im sure ul be fine im on amoxcillan too and the dont hurt the baby i got a bout 5 differt oppinions lol oh and also my mw said thats its normal for some brown discharge after a transvaginal scan big HUGS xx

Your reply just made me well up ! thank you so much xxx

Honey, that is what we are here for....to pick you up when you're down. I wont say I know what it is like for you right now as each situation is so individual but having gone through an MC myself a couple of years ago & only now having the bravery to have tried again I hold my hat off to you to have kept going the way you have. I can empathise with the fear, & the fact that every twinge, small amount of blood will make you think the absolute worst.

Courage is inspirational not just for those around you but for yourself. I can appreciate it's hard for you right now....but you still have your baby, it's still there HB beating away, holding on so please don't be down until, god forbid, you have to. If you need to PM me feel free.

:hugs: xx

Good luck & best wishes that everything goes well!! xxxx

Honey, you've been through a lot. I've had one MMC in July, and I wouldn't wish that heartache on my worst enemy.

There's no way to no for sure if this baby will stick around, but for you, I'm praying with all my might that it does. The fact that you're having good scans showing movement and HB is a great sign, and statistically now you're only at about 3% of losing this one...so you have a 97% chance of having a healthy full-term baby!

The amoxicillin can definitely give you diarrhea. As for the brown blood, it's a good thing it's BROWN. That signifies old blood from something. Just keep monitoring it, and having those scans.

Best of luck, and again, I'm praying hard for you and little one!
