I remember reading about this several months ago but obviously Amazon have continued to sell these type of books - Please take a moment to read the link or just scroll down to the bottom to sign the petition. They make me sick...

I found some other articles on that site interesting as well, thank you for posting. :)

I consider myself to be very open minded. Never say never and all that.

But these books sound awful. Physically training children to behave by hitting them with "rods" from as young as 6 mths is revolting.

I don't think I'll be buying anything from amazon for a while.

God some people are complete morons. I sometimes have to turn a blind eye to these things as it plays on my mind so much to yhe point of not being able to sleep at night.
What's worse is I've read about a couple using this disipline on children and they're devout christians! I'm hoping at the pearly gates they get kicked straight down to hell to be beaten with their own fucking rods.

Its weird tho as some of the theories in one of the mentioned books are rather sensible - not saying I agree at all with the hitting side of things, just that some of it is actually rather common sense

Strange combo of the awful and despicable and good sense!

I received this email yesterday:

Can you 'Find Five' more signatures for the Amazon Petition?

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to you for signing my petition asking Amazon not to carry parenting manuals which advocate hitting or spanking children and babies.
The great news of the day is that we have reached 500 signatures, which is a real achievement. I think we already have a significant case to make to Amazon, but this would only be helped if even more people sign.

I am writing to ask you if you would help me to increase the number of signatures by 'Finding Five'. All you need to do is find FIVE more people to sign - this could be your husband, next door neighbour or a few select friends. If each person who has already signed manages to do this then we will very quickly go from 500 to 2500 signatures!

You might like to ask people personally, or share the link again via social networking sites, internet forums or email.

Together we can raise awareness of books promoting child abuse, and if one child is spared such treatment as a result of our actions, our efforts will have been worthwhile.

I am so grateful to you for your support so far and look forward to seeing the effects of you 'Finding Five'!

Best wishes

Milli Hill

hmmm im not so sure, it all very much sounds for the so called benefit and ease of the parents and not the child, no 'emotional' best interests put first for the child, i.e baby was close to me in bed because i cant hear well and the house is cold. hmmmm not because i love my baby and want them close. i also think its scary that people would have to read and learn 'common sense' anyway.

my fil told me i had to get a rod for training my puppy and i could not do that, let alone do it to a child.
