Ok I just put on his anklet and im wondering....

How long before it starts to work?
I keep it on all day/night right?
Bath time?

Thanks!

I'm not sure lo's does work! Lol though I guess I'll see when her next tooth makes an appearance!
I keep hers on all the time but take it off for baths :)

I keep Quinns on 24/7.

Not sure how long it takes to show any results as shes had one from about 8/10 weeks. And has now got 8 teeth with no trouble.

Just got LOs today, I took it off for his bath, hoping it starts working soon.

It started working right away with my LO. I take it off for baths, when he sleeps at night. Works so well wish I got one a long time ago.

I keep Macs on 24/7 and he's got 2 bottom ones without me even realising. I don't know if it's anything to do with the amber but i daren't take it off hha  xx

Can someone please explain what these are? I no that there for teething but how do they work?

Its all rubbish ;) The company selling these bracelets are preying on desperate parents and succeeding in selling these completely scientifically unfounded items. They are about as real as homoeopathic medicine, water divining, tarot cards and crystal healing. Its just a load of tree hugging rubbish which relies SOLELY on people saying it worked for them because their child didn't get teething pain. Nor did mine, some children don't!

I disagree. My child has horrible teething pain and the bracelet helps when he wears it. I am sleep deprived yes but not imagining things.

If you did some more research you'd find out that its not "a load of tree hugging rubbish" and neither is homoeopathic medicine. A lot of parents use teething powders which in my opinion are useless but not all of us want to 'drug' our children with calpol or bonjela....
Yes it may not work for some, but as you said SOME children don't get teething pain.

I have done research and im also married to a miserable pessimistic scientist with a masters degree in biology and a degree in pharmacology, so often lectured! My view on life is not skewed by ignorance or wishful thinking which does ruin it slightly lol. Would love to believe in all manners of hocus pocus but alas I cant.

A random site says "Based on scientific findings which have shown that amber is electromagnetically alive and produces significant amounts of organic, purely natural energy"...........what does that even mean??!

Well "a random site" isn't exactly useful...

And its about acids not "organic pure energy"

mmm teething necklaces are meant to work because of acids in the amber that are anti inflammatory.. for me it didnt seem to help.. so i cannot really back them PERSONALLY. but homeopathic medicine isnt like.. magic.. it's herbs and such.. the only painkillers they give for animals at my vet after they have major surgery is homeopathic.. trust me. it worked. my cat isnt some fancy cat that doesnt have pain after having her uterus removed.. she simply had her homeopathic medicines on time..

whether the necklaces work or not is debateable perhaps (though clearly some find they do) but homeopathic medicine isnt exactly waving a wand around.. *rolls eyes*

Hahaha some fancy cat :)
Ok well I have definitely gotten both sides here however I wasn't asking if they would work, I was asking when. Not everything works for everyone, I get it. Homeopathic medicine isn't hocus pocus TO ME, but if thats what it is to you then great! Good for you Lol I just had a few questions about my new magic beads;) thats all...now if only I could get someone to help me work this voodoo doll..

It means nothing. This topic always surprises me on BnB. If we were talking BF vs FF or early weaning vs delayed weaning we'd have people throwing research papers at each other left, right and centre. Where's the research? Do we not think if amber worked then someone would have funded some research on it by now to tap into a very lucrative market? There's a really good debate on this over at the scepticon blog, I was looking forward to having my opinions changed because I think the necklaces are super cute. But there's just absolutely nothing to back up any of the claims.

How do the herbs work to relieve pain? How do you know your cat didn't experience any discomfort?

I have a really open mind for these things but since trying both an amber anklet and homeopathic medicine for LO I've turned into a huge sceptic too.

I use herbal medicine (such as the teething granules and essential oils) but it's not at all the same as homeopathy! At the 2nd homeopath we visited she gave us this reasoning behind oyster shell being in the medicine: "An oyster is safe and snug in it's shell, therefore it'll help the baby feel as snug and secure as the oyster does". At that point I lost all confidence in the medicine and the practitioners.

Since giving up with the anklet on LO I've started wearing it on my bad wrist to see if it helps at all and it really, really doesn't. Looks cute though so I'll keep on wearing it.

I have nothing against people who choose to use them and I grin when I see babies wearing them (in a "I'm glad they're trying alternative methods before dosing their kiddo" way) but personally I've given up hope.

This article isn't too biased but it does give some very good points to consider: https://scepticon.wordpress.com/2011/02/21/amber-teething-beads-a-few-points-to-consider/

lol at tinfoil hat brigade
