Hi guys,

Am getting a bit confused about whether the 20 week scan is actually an anatomy scan or anomaly scan? Have heard both being used but not sure if it is same thing or different?

hmm im not too sure...on my maternity notes it says anomaly scan...maybe they're the same but with two varients on name jus to confuse us all a bit more
xx

Mine was called an anatomy scan, but I'm in the US, so maybe that's the difference?

In the Uk it's called a 20 week Anomaly Scan - to check for anomalies (dictionary definition is irregularities/abnormalities)

I guess both are right since they're checking the anatomy for anomalies! :mr green:

when I went for mine at the local hospital one leaflet said anomaly scan at 20 - 22 weeks and the poster on the wall said anatomy scan at 20 -22 weeks so I guess they use both terms for the same thing.
