Was convinced I'd found heartbeat but then my friend made me doubt myself so I looked again. Thought I found it, sounded like galloping but then disappeared after 20 seconds though sensor was still in place. Does that mean I'm right and baby was moving away? Does the placenta sound as fast? Just because, I got the rate then when it disappeared, counted at that rate for one minute and came to 167bpm.

Any answers are fab!

Thanks

Galloping would be a heartbeat especially if it's at 167 I believe.
Yes, they move around a lot so you can attempt to follow them with your wand. hehe

PS my placenta has always sounded like a swooshing, wind like sound. More steady.

yeh mine sound like a galloping and then moves straight away at times! The placenta sounds like a whoosh whoosh and doesnt go fast so i think you definately picked up baby :)

Galloping is HB swooshing is Placenta. My bubs moves out the way quite often so im do tend to run round after him lmao!!

I know this feeling all too well. At the beginning I was having problems finding bubs. The best way to know its the bubs and not yours is by placing the doppler to your own chest, and counting your heartbeat and knowing the rythem, then going for a second go down there, you will be able to tell the difference between both as yours is MUCH slower than bubs. Bubs moves alot at 13 weeks, but you will soon know whats yours and not. x

Thanks all. Feel better now, thought it was in my mind as I have anterior placenta and read it would be too difficult to find hb but I know my own hb as its only about 70 and placenta doesn't seem much faster if at all. I did have to press in fairly firmly so bambi was probably getting annoyed at me disturbing sleep and moving. They didn't seem to move too much on my nhs scan and emergency scan, not like my private on the week before so its good to know.
