Ok so I say another one as I saw one a few days ago and can't find it now :dohh:

Any mums that use white noise already, I have decided to give it ago
But some silly questions first
*Do u start playing it during bedtime feed or wait till LO has finished?
* Do you play all night or for so long?
* Do you turn it off during night feed or leave it playing?
* If you only leave it playing for so long do you turn it back on after night feed?

I havent got a cd player or anything atm so tonight I will be playing via youtube on my phone and coming back in to get it in a bit :dohh:

So what works for all the mummys that use white noise???

I've just white noise since my youngest was a newborn.
I start playing it after bedtime feed and DD is in her cot.
It plays all night.
I turn it off during night feed.
I use a radio on static.
It's always worked with my LO.

If you're using your phone, you can get free white noise apps. One of them (I forget which) plays for a set amount of time, then switches off but switches back on if baby stirs.

When LO was younger and nursing I turned on the white noise then shut the lights off, did our feed, then put her to bed. I left the white noise on all night until I got her out of bed in the morning. I use it mainly to drown out any noise her big sister makes in the next room.

Now that LO is older we do our before bed milk sippy before going into her room so that we can brush her teeth before bed, so I turn on white noise then rock her for a few minutes, then put her to bed and still leave it on all night.

I've been using white noise a couple of weeks now and it is definately making a difference. I have downloaded an app to my tablet PC (plan on putting it on a cd and getting a little CD player), I feed LO downstairs and then take him up to bed and then put the app on and leave it on all night. He usually sleeps till 5-6ish and doesn't wAke during the night for a feed but if he did I would probably leave it on.

I have a white noise app on my phone, and turn it on after I've fed lo in bed, and leave it on all night.

I only use it when my little one is crying uncontrollably or cannot settle. I've found that music works too. Once he gets into a deep sleep, I turn it off.

We have a sleep sheep and we've always just turned it on as soon as they went to into the crib (awake or not). It turns itself off after 45 minutes.
I think the different sounds are mother's heartbeat, ocean waves, rain, and plain white noise (like a TV without a signal).
Honestly, when my son was an itty bitty thing, none of those sounds comforted him. I had to sit with him in the laundry room with the clothes dryer going :haha:. Or turn on the diesel pickup truck and sit inside (waste of fuel? NAHHH not when it means your baby finally falls asleep!)

I swear they should make a white noise stuffed animal that has dishwasher, clothes dryer, diesel engine sounds!! hahaha!

I have an old iPhone that has a white noise app, we have been using it since he was about 3 weeks old. He's 14 months now, I use it for all naps and bedtime. I leave it play the whole time otherwise he wakes up as soon as I turn it off haha. I am afraid to ever take it away!

not a helpful comment - but we just moved from a quiet residential area to a house on a pretty busy street - where there traffic/tube noise all night long and since we moved in both boys have slept through out the night - almost certain it the noise!

but do you have a tab or an old smartphone which you can down load a an app for?
