Everyone keeps asking me when I am going to start these ... So far I have been told that I only get 1 and it's not til 37weeks. To me this seems a bit late, and a bit silly! I can't afford to have private antental classes though so I guess I have to take that one. But with a history of premature babies in the family is it worth me asking the midwife if I can go to one early, just incase I don't get to 37weeks?

That seems a bit late and odd to me. We were sent a letter inviting us to 3 antenatal classes and we had the last one last Monday. Definitely talk to your midwife about it and voice your concerns. :) x

I start 1 of 2 antenatal classes next sunday ... ill be 36+2 .. and then the sunday after ive got another.

So annoyed that they're so late!!

It must vary depending on your area. We were told about our antenatal classes at our booking appointment, and then at our 16 week appointment were reminded to ring and book ourselves onto it. There were 4 classes in total (including the hospital tour) and we were finished our last one just before 36 weeks.

I start mine this week. Got one every Wednesday for 4 weeks and will be 31 weeks when I start them. Also got a Physio class the week after I finish Parentcraft which focuses on pain relief and positions in labour. Dh is allowed to this one and my sister said it's really helpful.

Strange how health boards can be so different when its supposed to be a NATIONAL health service.

They do seem to vary depending on where you are in the country. I had to ring to book myself onto them. Going to one on 4th Jan and second on 11th Jan. So I'll be 37 weeks when I have the last one. Hopefully this LO won't be to early! Although I'm starting private Hypnobirthing classes this weekend, so hopefully I'll be slightly prepared if she comes early!

Mine were really early, I think I would have prefered to have them around now so that it was all fresh in my mind. I'm sure I've forgotten much of what was said :growlmad:

I had mine on Saturday and Sunday, they are the only ones I get. It just depends on your area I think xxx

I'm a bit peeved with how late mine are as well. I have a two part labour workshop which runs on consecutive weeks, and i'll be 35 and 36 weeks when these take place. This isn't that bad I suppose, but then my breastfeeding workshop isn't until 37 + 3. Considering that 37 weeks is classed as full term I think thats leaving it too late. To make it worse the Parentcraft Department are working with my origional due date, which was a week earlier! So as far as they're concerned I will be 38 + 3 when I go to the breastfeeding one, madness! What irks me the most is that I booked these classes at 13 weeks, and it was only 2 weeks ago that I got the dates through, and that was after ringing up and hassling them. x

I'll be 37w3 when I have my last class (out of 3) on 23rd December :(

Definately worth asking your midwife hun :flower:

mine was last saturday at 32 weeks, only have one class though.

I plan to ask midwife at my appt next week as there has been no mention so far. I'm not that bothered about the classes as I am having NCT ones but I really want a hospital tour.

I had my first parentcraft last thursday - a lot of the ladies there were around 35 weeks and it was their first class but im only 29 weeks... i wanted to start as soon as poss nd my mw said I could have started at around 20 weeks if I'd have been able to..!! 37 weeks DOES sound a bit late..!

We had a full day (a Friday) at 37 weeks. Was quite pleased with that as they had recently been cancelled completely due to funding issues....

I rang to book mine at 29 weeks as i was told to at the hospital, then the midwife told me off for leaving it soooo late. Everywhere is so different x

Im going to 1 this wednesday, il be 34+5, its the only session ive been told about and its 21/2hours long! Then the week after im touring the labour ward. x

We've just been invited to them, starting in 2 weeks. I'll be 29 weeks then and they go on for 4 weeks... Trying to pursuade the OH to come too ha ha xxx
