well, one week today is when i go in to be induced!!!
im nervous, excited and inpatient. Im worried i havent got everything i need in my bag, im worried about how long the whole induction will take - im hoping it wont take days as when i was examined yesterday the midwife said that my cervix is now only slightly posteria and she found it easy to see it but it was closed, but surley the fact that it has moved forward it a step in the right direction??
anyway i would appreciate any advice or tips that anyone could give me on how to ''survive'':haha: an induction and maybe give me some advice on how to overcome boredom when in the hospital waiting for the contractions to start. Im taking books music etc in with me, but any other suggestions would be great
and also any advice/tips to overcome the nerves would be a help as well.
I've talked to my hubby about it but he just says ''oh you'll be fine, i'll be there with you'' i know what he is trying to say but it doesnt really help, and if i could combat some of my nerves myself it would be a great advantage.
Thank you, also any positive induction stories would be nice to read as well

why are you being induced? Sorry to ask a weird one...i cant see where youre from so it may be that youre in the US and its more standard there, but here you dont normally get induced until AFTER you due date, and even that is 7 days over or something. Unless youre having problems or a big baby?

Didn't wanna read and run hunny so wishing you lots of luck and happiness xx I've never been induced so no pearls of wisdom to offer xx

just try an do something that u enjoy like read a good book play cards an listen to music order hubby about :D wishing u lots a luck xxx

im from the UK. Im getting induced because of bp and i keep bleeding so its been decided that baby and me, will be safer once born

Im glad you posted this thread. Im afraid I may need an induction but hopefully not. Id also like to know what to expect if the time comes. Ive heard the contractiond from the pitocin can be more painful than natural ones. :/

Walking the halls in the hospital really does help the labor progress faster. :)

Contractions from an induction can be more painful than spontaneous labor, so try to prepare yourself for that.

Sleep as best as you can the night before!

Good luck!

thankks, yes as long as im not tied up to monitors and machines i will be walking around lots - this helped loads with my first two births - which were natural. My midwife said today that i should be able to be mobile and that it will help.
im trying to get my head around more painful contractions, hubby says best way to do this is concentrate on the one im having at the time only and not worry about the next one as that will be to overwhelming, it makes sense really. And yes sleep! god i hope i can sleep the night before as im going to need it, just need to put the induction out of my mind then once im asleep i'll be fine (hopefully)
