Hello ladies :flower:

I have noticed several Clomid-related threads on here and am active on several - all are a brilliant source of support and advice. However, I notice that generally speaking, the ladies on them have been prescribed Clomid because they do not ovulate at all on their own, or not very regularly at all.

I wonder if anyone out there is in the same boat as me - and is taking Clomid to bring ovulation forward, or extend their luteal phase - or like me - BOTH!

I don't tend to ovulate until day 25, then get my period only 8-9 days later. However, every 4-5 cycles I have a really long cycle (around 49 days) where I don't ovulate until around day 40.

My fertility specialist reassured me that nothing should be wrong if I'm ovulating on my own and wasn't concerned about the luteal phase - but I feel like I DO need extra support in the form of Clomid (had read it can bring O forward, which in turn can increase progesterone levels and extend the luteal phase) so I'm taking it for the next three cycles. This is the first cycle.

I'm taking 50mg cd2-6 and today is day 7. So far, no real side-effects apart from waking once or twice a night BAKING HOT and having to kick off the duvet (OH has loved that).

xx

Bump - anyone? I didn't think I was this odd :-(

I won't be starting clomid until next cycle (now 10dpo) but I was also prescribed it in hope of lengthening my luteal phase.

This cycle I have been taking vitamin b6 which has (up till now) lengthened my luteal phase by 2 days. Just waiting to see if it extends it more/get my period or have conceived.

Well, I am in almost the same boat as you. I just started my first cycle of clomid (I am taking it days 3-7) and today is day 5 of my cycle. I always ovulate on my own, but it is often late into my cycle (mine range from about 26-48 day, but the 26 only happened once. Usually they are somewhere in 30's and very rarely greater than 50 days). I never have any indication of whether it's gonna be a long cycle or a shorter one - it's just random. I start spotting around 8 days past ovulation on average. All my tests are fine though. So along with clomid, I will be taking prometrium 400mg starting on 6 dpo to hopefully lengthen my LP as well. I think you're the closest to what I am experiencing so far!

Hi there,
I have a short luteal phase-8 to 9 days-I usually ovulate on day 20-21 of a 28 day cycle; I have had two m/c's in the last eight months. Both times the fetus was developing normally and we saw heartbeats at six weeks and then two weeks later the heartbeat was gone. I have been waiting to see a specialist as my normal Ob has referred me and I am in the process of getting labwork completed. In the meantime from my own reading and knowledge of my cycles I think my short luteal phase could be the problem? I am hoping to use Clomid and Progesterone going forward-again I have yet to see the RE so this is all theory at this point. Anyone have any experience similar to mine? Thanks for your time and sharing your stories!

Hello,
I am prescribed clomid for my short luteal phase. I regularly ovulate on CD 16-19 on my own. Unlike most other doctors, mine seemed concerned about short LP which was 10-12 days with spotting starting at 9-10 DPO. He ordered some bloodwork and found that I have anti thyroid antibodies. He said those antibodies could be influencing ovulation quality (hence short LP and infertility) and it could have caused my MMC back in last february. His treatment plan is a comprehensive one. I used clomid and got HCG shot along with immune suppressants and thyroid hormone pills and now I am on progesterone supplements. I would like to hear how your LP length changed with clomid. This is my first month on it and if I am not pg, I will let you know how it affected mine...

Hi everyone!
Great to see a few BFPs on here since I created this thread!
Sadly - no BFP here. I have had 4 Clomid cycles in total, 1 at 50mg and the others at 100mg. Each cycle my O date was good (cd21, cd18, cd14, cd18) and my luteal phase was better but not brilliant - varying between 9 and 12 days. But without Clomid it is only ever a maximum of 10 days.
I am having a natural cycle this time, then a HSG to check tubes are clear. Then another three cycles with Clomid, then a break until we decide if we want to pursue IVF I think.
Good luck to all x

I'm on my second round of clomid, and haven't ovulated yet. I'm on CD20 today so not sure whether I should give up and accept it isnt going to happen?

How were you checking for ovulation? Were you using OPK's?

I have been using digital OPK's as I cant rely on the lines as its always so confusing, so I know I haven't had a smiley this month.

It's so frustrating!! :dohh:

Good luck with your clomid, and hopefully you wont need the IVF!

It's been awhile since this was posted, I wanted to see how things were going?

I've had 2 miscarriages in the last 9 months. The first we saw a slow hb and miscarried the following week around 8 weeks. The second we never saw more than the yoke and sac around 9 weeks.

My cycles are long too. For the first miscarriage my cycles were around 32 days, but once I miscarried they become longer, around 40 days.

We're doing some bloodwork next week and possibly starting clomid to regulate when I ovulate too.

I am writting becuase I took clomid for late ovulation. I was ovulating really late, like day 21 on a 28 day cycle. I was very concerned I did not have a long Luteul Phase. I started taking Clomid and right away started moving up to day 16 and 17. I already had a micarriage last year and have been trying so hard for more than a year. I started taking clomid in august. and nov. 1st I got a positive pregnancy test. Right now I am 5 weeks. But till very nervous becuase of my previous miscarriage. I am just praying now everything goes well. But clomid did work for me. Good luck to all of you ladies. I hope this helps.
