Hey so I'm on the waiting list for a 2 bed house/flat/bungalow and I'm even being offered properties with garderns to bid on :D
Just wondered if any of you girls are and if so how are you finding the process and what's the wait like in your area? I've got 8 bidding dates till my little man is due!!

me and OH went to see both our councils (salford and wigan) about getting a house basically we were told we didnt have a chance and we'd be waiting years ... ah well stopping at home until we can get afford our own place now :) is ace that your getting offered places with gardens tho! :D

Wow that's harsh. To be fair though the lady we saw was really nice and did her best. I'm in the south east ( kent) and I've been given 66 points and elegibility for a 2 bed property. I'm only bidding on properties in a nice area though so may take me longer to be housed because of that I guess

i'd of been same want bring LO up somewhere nice lol , hope you get housed soon hun :flower:

well i went to hand in my forms the other day
im waiting to get my points and stuff
but i have to all them tomorrow to find out whats going to happen next
im still abit unsure how it all works
but i really hope they offer me somewhere soon it would be lovely to have my own place when baby finally comes xxx

I was on the waiting list for about 6 or 7 months and ended up with a crap house in a crap area.. Sorry to be negative, we were down as living with family/friends and bidding on houses up to 3 bed, some with gardens, but all the good ones tend to go to people who have waited years.

Ahhh when I went they filled in the forms and then sent them to be asessed and then I got my pack and points and unique number. Nothing about calling them :/

I don't know if its done my good or what but I got my parents to do a letter stating that they thought it was a good idea for me and OH to live together even though he's a cock haha and that they wouldn't be happy for me to live there so that's probably put me up the list a bit but I know my mum and dad are happy for me to live there till I get housed

Oh wow lucky you!
I cant bid in my area untill im 18.
So im being put into a mother and baby unit. Ill get a place in roughly 1-2 years :flow:

Where i live there used to be a massive waiting list but now they just house u depending on what your situation is i.e. high priority/homeless

They wont house me for up to 6 months but they have offered to put me in a b&b until they find me somewhere.

Looks like its private renting for me then :coffee:

I am on a waiting list. But council are so stupid. :dohh:
I actually rent private. I would recommend finding a landlord and savng up for a deposit and first months rent. I get housing benefit so when I moved in housing paid back my first months rent and will get my deposit back when I move out.

Yeah same here. I did my application in july and I'm 18 in 30 days :D so she spoke to someone on the phone and they said the tennancy could go in my name as I'm nearly 18 :D

I haven't had much luck with the council in my area, I guess it differs depending on your area.

I think the issue in my town is that there are soo many people on the waiting list, and a majority are of higher priority. Me and my OH were only placed in band 3 (not very high priority) even though when we registered we were living at his mums where the only space for us was a tiny single box room and I was 3 months pregnant- so there would be 3 of us in a TINY bedroom (you can barely fit a single bed in there, it was such a squash even for just me and my OH) and there were six others living in the house aside from us, meaning each bedroom had at least 2 in them.

We were told that the waiting list for band 3 is typically 3 years in our town! We got our bidding number anyway but we're only eligible for one-bedroom places at the minute and everything that comes up on the website just isn't very nice.. there's little to choose from and it's mainly cramped flats quite high up in not so good areas. So we're moving back in with my mum and dad and will probably private rent in the future.

Sounds as though things are going better for you though! Good luck! xx

Iv been on the council list for 3 years.... still not been offered anything, so im extremely glad i choose private renting! saves all the hassle!! Its really annoying when you bid on a property get told your 1st or 2nd, then the day the property finishes you check and your like 6th... :(

GOD HELP YOU ALL! :haha:

although i did manage to get my 2 bed house off the council. but my oh my its a game and a half. and some of the places we got offered i wouldnt even consider raising a rat in!

my advice: get clued up, always double and triple check any properties you get offered as they really will offer you anything. i think the council would offer us a cardboard box if they could get away with it :( not to mention if tey can cover quite a big issue with a lick of paint, they do! iv had to call out the council to replaster a wall in my house where theyd just painted over mould, and ask as many questions as possible. if youre 3rd down a list then get a call to say that the 2 people infront declined the property, consider why and look round even closer when you view!

all that said though, i love my little 2 bedder :cloud9: its not all bad, i just thought id prewarn you :hugs:

oh and as for the wait, i got put on a high priority banding and got 8 cycles, i got my house on the 8th, but i think it was just out of luck. i know people who have got them faster though! :D

i had to wait about a month or more before i could get my damn keys though :growlmad:
