I know there's a Finance section, just doesnt look very busy..anyway

I do carework, and do alot of work mileage, and I haven't claimed a penny..basicaly I haven't kept track on exact mileage I've done.

I started the job in sept 08, and finished in november(ish)09 and changed to a different company which pay some costs.

Just wondering if any one has claimed anything? and how exact the estimate has to be? I could sit here and work out the miles by aa route planner, but would take FOREVER!

basicaly i could do with a bit of extra money and was just wondering if i could mega under estimate the amount (most weeks i'd be doing about 40 miles per day) but say if i just claimed say 70 miles per week just to get a bit extra as i really can't be doin with working all the miles out... sorry I'm waffling, can any one help? lol

hummm, im not sure hun but i doubt you can back date the mileage allowance a year....
ask ur hr department xx

I got told to claim it in April, but, i can't claim this years because the tax year isn't finished... blah stupid petrol

ohhh, i see, sorry, companies i have worked for in the past do it monthly but i guess all are different. i guess yes, if u under estimate it a fair bit so u know ur defo below what it should be then yeah, dont see why not. can only try :) xx

yeh its because the company i worked for dont pay it, ive to claim through tax releif apparently, but then i suppose a few 100 quid is better than nothing, when really i know i should be getting more than im planning on claiming for, but it takes hours to work out and ill end up going mad ha ha

my husband works for an agency and they place him in a care home for work. He is also registered with another company that he submits his expenses to. He claims for mileage each week - we have to submit petrol VAT receipts on top of the mileage.

If they've told you it's ok to claim then I'd go ahead - just work out your average mileage for a round trip (are you at the same place or different each time?) and maybe estimate how much you would have done. Getting something for your petrol/mileage is better than nothing!!! If you're entitled to it, I'd definitely claim it! x

I would be careful estimating. The inland revenue are all over this. My expenses have to b broken down by the day, and split by business and personal.

If you fiddle they wont think twice about doing you for fraud. Best of luck!

well ive worked out random weeks worth of mileage, and when i've worked it to EXACT miles, some of the days I'm doing 40 miles PER day! :O
but then i wouldnt want them to think that i was claiming a high amount so i've worked out how many days ive worked and just claimed for about 15 miles per day, we'll see what they say anyway.
