Hi all my son was 2 weeks old yesterday, and the last few days he seems to have been cluster feeding but getting very frustrated with BFing.

On Friday night he fed for about 3.5 hours with 2 x 20 min breaks. I know this is totally normal but he fed to the point where he brought loads back up so he can't have been hungry.

He's done the samre this morning but it seems he doesn't know if he wants to be on or off, he's showing hunger signs, feeding for a few mins then stopping but as soon as I move him he starts rooting again. Then if I put him back he's not interested, he doesn't latch back on even to comfort suck, he just roots and then gives up. And when he is sucking he's trying to pull away but not letting go if that makes sense.

I don't mind in the slightest but its knocking my confidence a bit as he was doing so well and this is a bit odd and I'm worrying he's hungry. Anyone had similar or got any ideas?

It could be a growth spurt? But it sounds kinda like he is not satisfied with the flow. How is your let down? fast? slow?

Could he have some wind? Or is he tired?

growth spurt...or just needs to comfort suck.

Oh yes, been there. In the end I just put on a good video. And it didn't last forever. Some mums use breast compressions to try and encourage active feeding: https://www.nbci.ca/index.php?optio...ast-compression&catid=5:information&Itemid=17

If it *DOES* last forever - then perhaps it's worth checking reflux (sometimes these babies suck to help with the pain) and milk transfer (ie, latch) to ensure these are optimised.

Evening milk is very low in quantity. But what is produced is amazing high fat and contains special go-to-sleep ingrediants.
