Please help.
Our baby has reflux and cows mil protein allergy. She's now 5 months and since around a few weeks old has refused to feed.
She's had so many different formulas the most recent aptamil pepti, now on nutramigen aa and swapping to neocate on Monday.
She refuses any formula and just hates feeding, has anyone swapped from nutramigen aa to neocate lcp.
We struggle everyday to get her to feed and sometimes 15oz is the max we are worried sick and not back at hispital for another 5 weeks. I know we've done this for 5 months but it's getting so hard we are getting ill from worry.
Please help

Hi similar story. Cow and gate Pepto and now changed to neocate. She's been on it for two weeks and she will be weighed next Tues so will let you know. She was also prescribed duocal because her weight dropped to 9th centile and her height was in the 50th. I totally understand your worry. We had the same thing refusing a feed. She hasn't really increased her bottles she still only taking about 20-24 which is better but not great. We have also started weaning her. She has taken to it like a duck to water. Loves her solid food and now seems to think she can drop her milk. Always something!! When we first went on neocate I thought it would be the same story but no her skin has cleared up, diarrhoea stopped, more solid poo not like mucus. Still sick but nit projectile. She is happier and sleeping better. It will take a while so hang in there. Xx

Ps my little still refuses feeds. I keep the bottle in her mouth she gives up fighting and drinks it. Not ideal I know

My son was cmpi and had neocate for 18 m when we were able to wean him onto cows milk. It's impossible not to get on with neocate, it's so pure and just calories that smell like potato milk. I'm sure you'll be fine with it Hun. I'm aghast you haven't had neocate before now tbh.

Ladies , thank you!! But Alice has now been on neocate for 4 days and no better she's now taking 2-3 oz per feed totalling around 15-17 oz per day.
She just doesn't ever seem hungry can sleep 11 hours and not cry for milk in the morning just smile and babble, when I try feed after this long sleep still takes 2-3 oz. my poor girl only gained 4 oz the last 2 weeks she just not interested in eating, surely there's something else going on? Tried different bottles, tears, flavouring the milk by my god she will not drink it.
Getting any help from health professionals is impossible, I'm ringing to try and speak to the paed tomorrow and see what he says. We were told nutramigen aa and neocate are a last resort when baby won't take anything else and well she won't take either.
Today my partners mum says she needs to be tube fed. This has gone on since day 9 and we are terrified we are going to lose her. No tests or examinations have ever been done. Please, does anybody have any advice? Thank you

My son is 5 months old and our story is similar to yours. We started him on Aptamil when he was born. After a week he was on Aptamil Pepti 1, then SMA Wysoy.
He was admitted to hospital at 4 weeks where he was changed to Nutramigen and confirmed he had Silent Reflux.
Nutramigen didn't help so he was changed to Neocate, it wasn't filling him so he was put back on Nutramigen and add Carobel to his feed. This is a thickening agent. He also gets Zantac for acid reduction.
At 5 months he still only drinks 4 to 5oz.
On a really bad day he will only drink 3oz, never seems hungry!
His feed at night is his best as I think he is so relaxed. In the past 2 weeks I have started "dream feeding" him during the day and find a huge difference! He takes the 5 to 6oz. He does wake half way through but carries on.
I was at my wits end also and was advised by the Paed that if he didn't drink more he would need to b tube fed. I would never allow this as the baby may get lazy and lose their "suck"
I started spoon feeding once a day at 4 months, just porridge but it fills him. He is lactose intolerant also.

Try the dream feeding, what have u got to lose!

Hello, thank you so much for the reply and so sorry you are in the similar situation. We have tried the dream feeding for a long time but as soon as little one wakes she stops :( we are at hospital next week and so afraid I think they will say she needs to be tube fed. I've heard once you start tube feeding it's incredibly difficult to stop so of course we don't want to do it, but we worry for her development and if this is the only way to get the nutrients in her then that's what we will do, poor baby she is just never hungry. We have also tried spoon feeding for a few days but it seems to really upset her after and we are up all night as she's so upset. Here hoping a miracle occurs for us both!
