Has anyone thought about new born baby professional photo been online and some look amazing but are very expensive.

Has anyone tried to do your own photos can’t be that hard can it???

I know personally, I have two friends that do photography on the side from their professional jobs and they do wonderful pictures. You may want to check around at your church/temple/etc (if you go) or other social places where you know many people. See if they can recommend anyone.

I am hoping to be able to get some done right before Christmas, assuming that baby shows up on time! A lot of times, if you know the person as a friend or they are recommended by a friend, full price doesnt get charged.

Hope this helps.

Where do you live? In our local hospital (uk) a company comes round to take a photo of your newborn in hospital. The photo they took of Grace was stunning. They send you a pack of photos all different sizes through the post and you pick and choose what you want but it's really cheap to buy the entire lot (I can't remember how much but I think it was around £35 for 1 really large, 2 10x8, about 4 6x4, some smaller ones and loads and loads of passport sized ones, plus a couple of calendars and bookmarks. You can also order more copies if you want.

I had professional ones of my son when he was born 14yrs ago but this time i'll be getting my nephew to do them. He has recently taken up photography as a hobby and the pictures he's took of his niece are absolutely stunning (so much so that she actually won a baby modelling competition!) and they're definitely better than the pro ones that i had done! Maybe ask around friends to find out if they know anyone who does it who could do some for u?

Ah thats sounds good I am in London so might have to ask about that thank you xx

We had the ones done in the hospital done as well and the pack was a fantastic price!

i found someone that doesnt charge a session fee for newborn pics before 3 weeks of age so if i'm feeling up for it i'll take her there then we just have to buy the pictures

I have a friend that does photography on the side doing it. Our hospital offers them as well, but I really want a CD so I can print good quality announcements and post the pictures online for family to see. Our hospital only offers prints and they aren't really inexpensive. The best part of having my friend do it is that she will come to our house after we get out of the hospital and do all the photos in the comfort of our home.

I actually do photography on the side but weddings. However, I'm looking into doing my own in newborns now. Be careful if you use a friend or somebody to do it. Don't try any of those cutesy poses of them sleeping with their hands on their chin or anything like that. Those photos are actually photoshopped and some of the poses you'll see in typical newborn photoshoots are dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. There is a reason the pros charge so much :)

However, try putting baby on a white bedspread in a room where soft morning light is coming through a window to the side of the baby. Then put a white pillow on the other side of the baby and this will reflect that sunlight onto the other side of baby. Keep baby dressed very plain or naked and take some pics looking straight down, etc. Obviously, there's a lot more to get professional quality pics... but you should get some cute ones in that set up. Just dont block the light. Good luck. P

I bought a big white fluffy blanket for a backdrop and a little tu tu and headband for her to wear. I figured those things are good enough to produce a good picture at home. I think those picture with the baby sleeping with their hands on their chin look really unnatural anyway.

I plan on doing my own. I can do just as well as professional photographers can and all it will cost me is a little bit of my time. If I do choose to pay someone to do them then will probably just go somewhere cheaper like Sears or something like that.

Photography deals seem to come up relatively often on the deal sites (kgb, groupon etc)
