Anyone else actually looking forward to the budget thingy tomorrow?

£600 is alot - how come????

Now no CTC entitlement, more tax, more NI - £586 to be more accurate. Blooming heck. If the salary reduction at DH work goes ahead then not only will we lose his reduction but according to the calculator we actually lose £848 that we would have got previously.

just worked it out with my ohs earnings aswell and we will be £328 better off as we are now and will be £246 better off without a child.. how does that work out?!

Mine said £723 better off! Not really sure how! (but I did the calculation based on 3 kids, insead of 2, so I know whats coming in 6 months time)

£450 better off here, can't complain with that tbh!

EDIT: Would have been £717.95 better off if OH was still here with his wages! :(

Do you earn over the threshold is that why your not entitled to CTC? I really feel for you, Its such a panic when you wonder how you will cope

Looking at these few pages of figures, the 'better off' figures seem to far outweigh the 'worse off' figures.. I'm failing to see how this is going to help the countries debt?

Bluebaby, did you see my question a few pages back about dropping your working hours slighty to fall under the threshold? Is that something that may be a viable option so that you arent at a loss?

Yeah we do. I finished mat leave and am now on a career break so we didn't claim before. But would have been eligible now. A lot of folk are worse off than us- didn't get it before so you don't miss what you never had. However, I feel for the folk who are now not eligible but got it before.

I think that is because there prob isn't alot of people on here just now that have wages that are high enough to have their benefit entitlement cut and in turn be worse off.

Yeah I feel if i never had the money i would just have to have struggled along but now I have the money it was going to be used to help with childcare as we will get no other help. I can't afford not to go back to work full time but can't afford the childcare either.

Fair point, didn't think of it that way!

someone on my fb just said they are cutting income surport is this true??

Only once your youngest starts school.. pretty much the same as now all but a year!

the £1000 tax allowance increase wont benefit higher earners so it has been said earlier on.

Hey Guys,

I've just being thinking about my posts and I really wanted to explain something to you all. My OH and I do earn around £50,000 and I do get quite touchy and offended when people go on and on about this being alot of money and we shouldn't need CTC benefits. It is alot of money and I can see why you all must think I'm having i laugh saying that we are struggling. But for my OH to keep his job he had to move locations and we now spend £600 a month on petrol for him to get back and forwards to work every day as there are no other methods for him to get there. Thats alot of money for us to spend and doesn't leave us alot of money at the end of the month so the CTC do help alot.

I just wanted to explain my attitude as I didn't want you all thinking I'm a money grabber .

x

I haven't replied to any of this thread but, having read everything you have written so far, I understood where you were coming from. You didn't seem like a money grabber to me. It's all relative after all. :hugs:

there is no need to explain your situation and i remember earlier you posted about his high petrol costs.

would you not maybe be better off getting hte car converted to LPG ? Its only about 0.50 - 0.60 pence per litre

had an lpg car once, was amazing! I did west cornwall to Surrey and back on £4!!!

wow what mileage is that?

wish i could change mine but i was told it needs boot space and I lack that in the zafira.

Yes the lpg tank is huge I had it done to a hatchback vectra, and there was very little boot space left!

I think its about 500 miles.. I'll just double check with google!

Ooh.. 327 miles each way! I did do well lol! I think LPG was a lot cheaper back then tho, it was quite a while ago, when cornwall first got lpg, there were 2 garages that sold t!
