I am being induced tomorrow at 39+2 because my blood pressure spiked and I've been on bed rest for 2 weeks. But I'm already 4 cm dilated. Has anyone else been scheduled to be induced and went naturally a day or two before. I've been having mild menstrual cramps for the last day and was kinda hoping to go into labor naturally before I get induced. And if I don't go naturally by tomorrow morning, can anyone tell me if induced labor is really that much worse? That's all everyone keeps telling me is that the labor is going to be awful because they're inducing me and I'm getting a little nervous. Thanks!

I was induced with my first and went naturally with my second. Both painful, both intense but couldn't say the induction was more painful. Much longer labour but it was my first. If you are 4cm its likely they will break your waters and let you walk and see if things happen. I was due to be induced with my second like this (I was 2-3cm) but went into labour the night before. Good luck

I asked my midwife if they could break my water and let me walk for a little bit and she said nope that they don't want me in labor all night long. I haven't had a great experience with my entire Dr. office and definitely won't be going there for Baby #2! They are very impersonal but I'm hoping I can kick start something tonight so they don't have to induce me.

I just noticed you are not in UK. Guess things are different over there. It's the iv drip we all want to avoid. I didn't need it with my first. Had a pessary to soft cervix and then broke my waters at 3cm and I contracted beautifully on my own. Good luck. I hope it all goes well for you x

hope your induction went well. i was induced at 38 weeks and was 1-2cm when they put the pessary in. took about 8 hrs till my waters broke then had a relatively straigh forward 12 hr labour with just gas and air and had an 8lb 13 baby!xx

Hope your induction went well, I was induced and it was a positive labour. My waters broker abt 20 mins after pessary, laboured for another 24 hrs but it was manageable! I wouldn't be concerned if I was induced again. Hope that helps

Loved my induction! I just had the 6 hour gel put in and I went into labour naturally. Just had pressure, no pain. I liked the control! I had a shower, ate some lunch, read magazines and had a nap! Gel went in a Midday (I was 1.5cm) by 6pm I was feeling pressure with every braxton hick (which were coming every 5 mins like they usually did) as baby was so low. At almost 9pm I was asked if I wanted my waters broken so I accepted and I started getting very gentle contractions until 11pm and then they ramped up a notch and I had my baby at 1130pm! Just 30 mins of pain!

My induction went great. My midwife hooked me up to the pitocin and broke my water at 1pm and I had my beautiful baby boy at 8:44pm. Short labor. They cranked up my labor a little too much near the end which was giving me constant contractions so I ended up getting an epidural at 9cm. I was dead set against the epidural but now that it's over I'm okay that I had it. It didn't numb me quiet evenly on both sides so my left leg was dead until 3am and my right never really lost all feeling. And I only pushed for about 8 min. Over all it was a very simple first labor. He's perfect and health and were both home! He was a whopping 9lbs 9oz and 22in long.
