As the tittle says really.
I know all babies cry I'm not stupid, but ds crys the whole time hes awake unless he has a bottle in his mouth :dohh: and considering he naps 5mins here 5mins there instead of actual "naps" It means I spend pretty much all of my day trying to deal with a crying, grizzily baby or having to walk out and do some housework in the kitchen just to calm myself down
He has started playing in last week but even when he is playing with his toys he crys and wines despite looking very intriged by the toys. I partly think that is frustration trying to grab but it means he really is crying basically all day long

So after I have done everything and I know nothing is wrong I get very upset and frustrated.
Does anyone else have a baby who just wines and crys all day long?? And how do you cope???

DD1 was a cry baby and DD2 is but not as much, thankfully. Putting her in a carrier seemed to help. Do you have a sling/wrap/carrier that you could use with him?

Yes! My DS only cried for a reason- he was overtired, hungry, couldn't do or reach something etc. DD just cries for the fun of it I swear! She has got better the last few weeks, it has coincided with her starting to nap regularly and sleep longer at night, so I do think it is down to overtiredness, at least in part. I find that distraction or carrying her around are the only things that will stop her when she's in whinge mode.

Has he been checked for silent reflux? I don't think its normal for babies to cry 24/7, seems like a bad evolutionary move lol

He doesn't actually cry..it's a fake whine he does allllll day be he's not happy unless I'm holding him lol

Oh sorry did I not say, he was diagnosed with silent reflux at 2weeks old. We initally thought was colic but nope reflux :dohh: but we changed his milk and he doesnt hardly ever have a problem with his milk now. And like a pp said its almost like a fake cry/whinge but just doesnt stop. Infact he woke at 00.30 and its now 2am and he is STILL crying despite me having done everything and knowing hes ok. He just doesnt want to go back to sleep  I bloody do though
He only used to wake once but since his growth spurt its 4+ times a night and mostly he only takes 1oz which is driving me mad

If it's the sound I'm thinking it is (a constant moan/cry type noise without tears. Almost like whining?), I really don't think it's fake. My baby does it too. He's been doing it constantly the past couple days, which is annoying, but he's doing it because he's teething. He also does it really bad before he spits up. My first baby who wasn't fussy at all used to do it in the morning after sleeping 12 hours & having a soaked diaper. This baby is definitely fussier but he's also a bad napper & is tongue tied so isn't eating as well as my first. My guess wouldn't be that he's a cry baby, my guess would be something is wrong (I.E. Reflux). I know with DS2 even though I can't soothe the teething pain, he still wants me to cuddle him a lot.

I agree that I don't think he's faking it. It might not be a real cry with tears but something is probably bothering him. As he's only napping tiny amounts I would hazard a guess that he's tired. My LO will grizzle and moan all day long if he doesn't sleep well.

Naps of 5 mins suggests something is disturbing him and it could be his reflux causing discomfort even if he isn't spitting up anymore. Where does he nap? Will he nap longer if he sleeps on you?

My 5 month old is a huge winger currently. Exactly the same noise just like a moan but constantly no matter where he is or what he is doing, even during feeds, bath time, cuddles. The only quiet time is when he is sleeping but he only has short naps during the day too. And doesn't sleep through the night either. He also suffers with reflux so we have weaned early and only has aptamil anti reflux before bed and during the night when he wakes. I'm putting it down to a mixture of teething and tiredness due disturbed sleep caused by teething. I'm holding on to the fact that it can't possibly last forever!

Nathaniel was very sick with reflux for the first 3 months. With this, he developed some anxiety, mainly towards feeding, but he became anxious and much more 'needy' as he was needing my comfort more. He is still a sensitive boy and I think having experienced the misery the reflux brought him makes him more 'excitable' when something hurts. He was also very prone to getting overstimulated. He just seems a little sensitive in general. Baby wearing him helps a lot when he is really whiny. Today, it's nothing but tantrums. I think his gums bug a bit. He just gets really clingy and refuses to be put down. I refer to him as my koala bear when he gets like that. :haha: I have quite a fussy child though, I am aware of it. Hehehe. He's a good boy, if he has everything exactly how he likes it :winkwink:

A 1 month old baby can't fake cry!

My DD cried loads as a baby and it was because of her silent reflux. Once we got her on the right meds and as long as we didn't lay her flat ever and kept her upright for 30 min after a feed she was like a different baby.

Please don't call him a "cry baby" he's probably in pain.

It does sound like maybe silent reflux or something is bothering him. My LO was horrendous at that age and it was reflux. Although I do also believe crying tends to peak at two months and then gradually ease off...it's like they've woken up to the world but are still too young to actually do anything. If you google 'purple' crying it might explain it better. I second the advice of wearing your baby in a carrier. It was the only way I could get any peace at that age.

The good news is that once baby becomes more able to interact with toys etc things get better but maybe you should check out the possibility of silent reflux bothering him too xxx
