My DS is 16 months and still has no words, he babbles a lot but no words anyone else have this ?

Thanks

My dd is 15 months and has very few words but she babbles all the time. She only says hi and ow and dada (to both of us) clearly. Otherwise she is trying to say bottle, cat/dog and possibly others that I haven't picked up. A lot of her words start with 'd'. But she understands a lot and follows instructions most of the time so I'm not too worried.
She isn't walking yet either so its really hard not to compare to others and wonder if something is wrong. I guess its just about patience and remembering there is plenty of time to catch up.

My LO didn't have any words at 16 months. He's 18 months now and only says hiya. I'm still waiting for the language explosion which is certainly taking its time! Until he's 2 though, I'm going to try not to worry. He's also not walking yet but that is definitely a confidence thing rather than a physical problem.

Holly only started saying words just before her 2nd birthday. I thought it would never happen but she now says 70 words in the space of about 1.5 months!

neither of my boys had words before 18 months. DS2 has really been picking up a lot of words this past month. He only had a few words at 18 months, then a few more the next month, and has really had a word explosion lately with learning new words. Its ok and normal to not have words yet at 16 months!

My son was around 18 months before he started saying words - he didn't really babble much either.
My daughter on the other hand said her first word at 16 months and then basically didn't say anything else until she was around 3. She's now 4 1/2 and is still way behind.
If they have a level on understanding that is age appropriate then you don't need to worry until somewhere between 2 and 2 1/2 years.

Thanks everyone. He's cruising well and making it from one end of the room to the other walking now so he's getting there with that. Reassuring to hear others have no words at the same age :). Thank you

We don't really have any words at 20 months. He'll say 'hiya' back to you and will also say 'deh-ee' (which we know to mean ready) before he jumps at you or something but I think they're just things he's learned to copy iykwim? Rather than words with meaning.

My LO is 18 months and only has two words. I hope she gets her language explosion soon so I can stop worrying x
