Hello ladies. I'd really like to hear from anyone who didn't ov on their 1st round of clomid but has done on subsequent rounds - possibly with a higher dose?

I didn't ov with 50mg and will be trying 100mg next cycle but I am feeling like it just won't work for me :nope:

I know it's very early days but I have been reading lots of stuff (too much) on the Internet and it seems it doesn't have a high success rate for ladies with unexplained infertility (like me).

Oh how I want to be proven wrong on that score as I had started to imagine clomid as a miracle drug and my saviour!

I know that I have anovulatory cycles but I must ov on my own sometimes, as I was pregnant but had a miscarriage 19 months ago.

Please share any advice you can. Hopes. X

Hi,

50mg wasn't working for me but when they upped my dose to 100mg my body was finally doing what it should. We too are dealing with unexplained infertility and my FS thinks all we need is a bit of luck. Unfortunately for me the 100mg on its own still didn't give me a BFP so we are having IUI. First one was last month and no success, next one in October so fingers crossed. Although I didn't get a BFP I do know others that have on Clomid without having to go for further treatment so hopefully you'll be the same and your BFP is just around the corner xx

Thanks Vicks. Can I ask how much you are paying for your IUI? I have started to look at it as a possible option for us too. I really hope it is the right combination for you and you get your BFP in Oct. What are you doing this cycle, clomid only? Fingers x'ed of course that you fall this month! X

hi, try not to worry (easier said than done i know) but 50mg is a low dose and usually its just a starting point, many women dont ov on 50mg and go on to ov fine on a higher dose, also clomid can take a couple of months to have effect with some people, because you have ov on your own already perhaps a higher dose is all you need to get your ovaries moving again, fx for you hun and hope it works out fine :hugs:

Our IUI is £1000 with the drugs on top, which last time worked out to be about £300. Pricey but hopefully worth it. Completely natural this month, FS wanted me to have no drugs at all this month to calm my ovaries down after last month. Would be great to fall this month to avoid going through the IUI again but am quite prepared we'll be going down that route again.

Hi Vicks. Wow - that is a lot of money. I hope you get your BFP on this natural cycle and don't have to go through the IUI again. Much luck, Hopes. X

I didn't O with the 50 mg either, and on the 100 mg, I had no side effects so I just assumed it didn't work too, but, lo and behold it did!

Good luck, hope the 100 mg does the trick for you!

How to they test you for ovulation when you are getting Clomid? Is it just the progesterone test 7 DPO? DH and I are trying to decide to start Clomid as we just found out my progesterone levels are low and I probably do not ovulate on my own.... But, I am so scared to take drugs to conceive. I am sure I will get over that soon, lol.

1hopefull, I only had a blood test 7dpo and because I didn't o I will get the same again. However, I have decided to pay for follicle tracking scans this month as I want answers! If I don't o then why not?! Please let me know if you decide to take clomid. Everyone is different but so far (touching wood)! I have not had much in the way of side effects - mood swings has been it for me. Good luck!

ermm, congratulations!!! Did you fall on your 2nd clomid round? I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy. X
