Anyone had a sweep before?

Hi,

I'm now 10 days overdue and had a checkup at the hospital yesterday. They offered me a sweep which I accepted. Midwife told me that they have a 50/50 success rate, and that if it is going to work I should go into labour 24-36 hours later.

Since the sweep I've had a bloody show and some waves of mild period pain (def not contractions, just a few bursts of cramping).

Just wondering if anyone has had a sweep and how successful it was? Thanks for reading

You do get blood anyway with a sweep. I';d already had my show before i had my sweep. And then I had blood after the sweep too. You get cramping too, so its hard to know whether its worked or not until you actually know!

I'm exactly the same 10 days over and sweep yesterday. MW didn't think she could do t to start with as I wasn't even 1cm dilated ut I am desperate to get baby out otherwise it is c-section on thursday- she offered to stop as she said it would be really painful but I told her to go on (ow) Had a bit of a show and some cramping and that is it. So hope it works for us...fingers crossed!

I'm interested to know this as well, I had a mw appt this morning I'm 40+3 and she offered me one, I was a bit suprised but went for it!

Yes, I did with DS1. Had the sweep on Tuesday afternoon, had a bloody show afterwards and then nothing really until Thursday night when my waters went when I was having a wee! Fingers crossed!

I had my sweep 5 days ago and still nothing, but some daily spotting. Obviously my sweep didnt do anything. I'm now 2 days overdue...
