My DH and I have been trying on and off for almost 16 months tc and nothing. I had read here and there "tips and tricks" to getting pregnant and that it took most couples a year tc. I've never tracked anything or had any idea "the science" behind becoming pregnant I thought you just did the deed and let nature take its course... at least for everyone around me it seems that easy. I'm writing to see if anyone can teach me where to go from here? Do I go to my GP or skip them and seek a specialist? I feel so lost and over-whelmed how do I track what does it mean to track, what am I even looking for? Thank you so much for your time hopefully today's test with be the last of many BFN

Go to an OBGYN. They will be able to send you to a reproductive endocrinologist if needed.

You can use ovulation predictor kits or get a basal body thermometer and take your temperature every morning and chart it. This lets you know when you're going to ovulate so you can make sure you do the deed. I haven't done either one because DH and I have only been trying for 2 months but since he has left for deployment, if I am not pregnant, I am going to try to chart my temps and see what's going on so when he gets home I already know what's going on in my body.

Are your cycles regular? If not I would go see an OBGYN, if they are then I would maybe take a couple of cycles to chart your basal body temp to see if you are ovulating you can go to any store and buy a basal body thermometer and then you take your temp the same time every morning after at least 3 or 4 hours of sleep before you do anything else they say you should barely move lol I set my alarm for 6am when it goes off I grab thermometer off of my night stand stick it in my mouth turn off my alarm and lay there until it beeps then I write down the temp and go back to sleep, you can chart your temps on fertility friend.com and the chart will automatically tell you if and when you ovulated but only after you ovulated this is the only at home way to tell for sure if you have ovulated if you do temp and you find out your not ovulating then you can take that info to the OBGYN so they can better help you, i do that and I use ovulation predictor kits they will tell you when you are about to ovulate but you can get a positive opk and not ovulate so dont rely only on those if your not sure if you ovulate or not. This is my first month ttc so this is all pretty new to me too but I have learned alot off of this site, let me know if you have any other questions Id be glad to try and help! Where in WI are you from? How old are you and DH?
