We hope to buy a house around January time and I'm wondering how much all the fees are roughly? I don't even know what all the fees are just that we need the 10% deposit and that as we are first time buyers we don't need to pay stamp duty. What else is there to pay? And how much does it come to all together?

Thanks xxx

we are in the process of buying our first home, we have got quotes for conveyancing (the solicitor bit) for around 1500 and you will also have to pay for a survey which we have been told is either 300 or 500 depending on if we opt for the comprehensive one. Depending on what mortgage you choose there may be a mortgage product fee. Hope that helps some good luck it is such hard work buying your first home these days we have been saving for 2 years to get where we are now

Thanks yeah it is hard work we are doing well tho been saving for 7 months and have £11000 but my husband has a great job and we basically save all the money that doesn't go on bills! Good luck to you too xxx

Were buying our house in the next few months. I have a meeting on Thursday to start the process so i might be able to give more advice on then.

But ive been told to save between 1500 and 2000. Were in a new build property so shouldnt need an intensive survey- been renting the property for 3 years and had no problems. Obviously solicters fees arent too bad as we dont have a property to sell.
Mortgage profuct fees can be added onto your mortgage.

We brought our house 4 years ago.
Solicitors fees were £1500
Survey £300
Home Insurance £300

Think we budgeted £2500 in fees xxx

Thanks we were thinking about £2500 would be ok and now I know so that's good thanks xxx

We bought our house 2 years ago we were first time buyers aswell. We didnt have a deposit saved up as we didnt need too. We own 70% of our home the government owns the other 30% we can buy that other 30% back off them when we can. we bought our house through a scheme the government was doing to help first time buyers get on the property ladder. All we had to pay was £1500 solicitor fees and £500 on the survey carried out. Good luck xx

We're in the process of buying one. On top of the stamp duty we are paying

£350 surveyor
£450 solicitor + £400 for local searches
