I'm fuming!
I'm lying here awake and in lots o pain with SPD.... I've had paracetamol, I've had a bath and I have my heat pack - still unbarable!!
I ran out of cocodamol yesterday and was seeing the midwife today anyway so I thought I'd ask her about a prescription..... She said she couldn't prescribe but to see my GP, she also suggested I could buy some over the counter for now... Fair enough so we popped to asda on the way home.....
The bloody sales assistant refused to sell them to me because I'm pregnant!
What's it got to do with her!!!
I'm so cross! I could go to the alcohol aisle and buy as much toxic alcohol as I like or I can go to the kiosk and buy fags to smoke myself to death but I can't buy a non-prescription pain relief!!!!!!!!!!
Is this right - can the horrible snooty woman refuse to sell to me?
Anyone know?

I was prescibed aspirin during pregnancy but couldnt get the prescription due to printer problems so doc said just to buy it over the counter. My husband went to get it and had to tell the pharmacist why? She refused to sell it to him. He hit the roof and shouted abuse at her and they had an argument in Tescos. I had to go see her and she said nobody is prescibed that anymore and no doctor in their right mind would have. I have had bleeding all throughout the pregnancy and my hubby mentioned that to her which made it worse. I was prescibed this by my consultant at the hospital not a GP and my hubby flipped and told her she wasnt a f.......ing doctor and thats why she stuck behing the desk as a pharmacist. I managed to calm the situation and eventually got my aspirin. I totally sympathise with your situation! So I guess Asda n Tescos are out, maybe Boots will sell it...! Good luck:thumbup:

It's just so rude! Since when has a pregnant women's freedom of choice been revoked!
My husband did start to argue the point too but I just told him to leave it... She was a control freak and seemed to revel in having the power to refuse a sale.....
grrrrrrrr.....

It is an annoying policy but it is to cover their own backs because during pregnancy you are supposed to get a prescription for all drugs. Which means going to see the doctor. Aspirin is ridiculous though, you can buy that in the supermarket aisle. I think co-codamol is sold over the pharmacy counter. With something like the aspirin I would just say that it wasn't for me it was for my partner. With the co-codamol I'd send my partner in to buy it for me and pretend it was for him. Saves time arguing with these power hungry pharmacy types.

yes they are covering there back...i would get your husband to say it's for him or phone g.p surgery and get them to do you an emergency prescription to pick up. good luck x

It could be because on the leaflet that comes with the tablets you'll fine it says they shouldn't be taken while pregnant.
I take strong co codamol for gall stones and had the same problem at tescos. When i questioned it i nap told its because they Brent recommended for pregnant women unless prescribed x
