hello i was 4 weeks pregnant and then i had a big bleed went into hospital and my cervix was still closed so sent home still pregnant next day still bleeding with clots went and had a scan couldnt find anthing but still too early anyways so took blood for hgc levels and told to come back 48 hours to take more so i did jad a phone call yesterday told they had dipped so i had lost my baby but why do they ask u to do a test in a few days whats that about im heartbroken enough without a test saying "u r not pregnant " why do they want me to test im sooo confused ?????????:shrug:

Its to make sure your hcg levels go back to normal.

If there is any "tissue" left inside it can still make you get a positive pregnancy test and if left can cause infection etc

I had to do it after my mc too.

ok so if its still positive what do i have to do go back to my doctors ? also twins run in my chaps family just wondering would my hgc levels dip if ii lose one ? i know im holding on to a miracle but its just ive heard this happen and i still feel ppregnant needed to pee alot etc ??

It is initially to see if your hcg is moving in the right direction - the actual value doesn't tell you a lot on one test as it varies from one person to the next - it ideally doubles in a healthy pregnanct every 48 hours so they needed the 2nd test to know whether you were mc or not.

If they continue to test after identifying that you are losing your baby then it is to make sure that it goes down to a not pregnant level - some people take longer than others and how high your level got to before the loss can impact also.

Levels can stall if you lose one twin but I think they would start to move up again - somene else might know more on that.

Very sorry for your loss :hugs:

So sorry for your loss. Sending big hugs your way.

I think the others have covered off your questions. hb's right about your hcg levels -they'd go up if there's a pregnancy. Another test will likely show that.

After a mc, until everything is gone, you'll still test positive for hcg, and as a result, you'll still have pregnancy symptoms. It's terribly unfair to still feel pregnant at this point, but that's sadly normal after a mc.

Again, I'm so sorry. Please take good care of yourself.

I think the ladies have covered it here.. I was asked to do the same even after hsving a d&c just so they can be sure everything has come away. I'm so sorry about your loss honey x
