anyone not ovulating? what did doctor put you on?

hey

i have been trying for my 1st baby for over a year now,

i went to the doctors and had 3 months worth of blood tests to see if i ovulate.
i have pretty long cycles and there never the same same each month.

im pretty sure the 1st 2 blood tests will say i didnt ovulate as i timed them really wrong, so having my final blood test on 7th october and that will be what im waiting for, to see if i do ovulate or not.

what im asking is, for those of you in the same situation, what did the doctors say to you next?

did you go onto pills straight away?

just want to know what could be next really.

i have to wait for my last blood test results to be sent back to the hospital and then wait for my appointment to come through x

If you are not ovulating you will more than likely be given clomid, it works to trick your body into producing more hormones and can be taken in different doses. There are other ovulation inducers out there but Clomid is the most used generally. Some DR's make you go through all the fertility testing before they prescribe and others don't... mine did it took 8 months, but if its a clear cut case and your bloods confirm you are not ovulating you might be given it straight away... FX'd for you

i just hope if the results say i dont ovulate that they will give me them straight away, coz i know they dont work straight away or guaranteed to work at all for certain people x

Hiya my blood tests showed I wasn't ovulating in April but I haven't had any treatment yet. I was hoping for clomid but it wasn't prescribed to us because of male factor, the docs feel without assisted conception it will take too long. So we are just waiting for IUI treatment, with ovulation treatment (injections and tablets). IUI is when only the 'good' sperm are inserted into the womb at ovulation time.

Normally docs like to refer u both to the fertility clinic before precribing treatment so you are assessed as an whole case, I.e they need to check ur oh's SA is ok before giving u ovulation treatment. All being well you should get clomid or similar.

I had a bad couple years with getting really long periods of bleeding (longest were 81 and 57 days!!! (158 and 136 day total cycles respectively)). The most my doctor did was prescribe norethisterone to stop the bleeding (which it doesn't until after I stop the norethisterone). I finally figured out for myself that the times when I had prolonged bleeding were when I'd gone a longer than normal time before bleeding began and that I probably hadn't ovulated those times.
I mentioned it to my doctor who replied "mm, probably".
I'd also seen a fertility guy at the hospital (during my 81 day bleed) whose only repsonse was that he wouldn't even bother checking my hormones or do anything else unless I bought my BMI under 28.

Good to hear that there are some doctors out there who take this seriously and offer you some help.

LizMcD I have had a scan for cysts on ovaries, and there was nothing that she could see.
Hubby has done his SA test and the results should be at the hospital, but we won't find out that until we go back at the next appointment which should be end of October I hope.


JustKIA-- the specialist I went to see looked me up and down and said so are you on a diet. I said no. She said well there's no point doing all this if your not going to out your all into it. Is there??
I was fuming. I'm not obese I'm slightly over weight.
Well that was 4 months ago and I haven't lost any weight. I'm dressing enough without her putting demands onto me also.
We selling a flat and buying a house and all solicitor stuff going wrong and I'm stressed with family issues aswell as desperatly wanting a baby!!!
The doctor who was pregnant!! Bet she fell straight away.

I really hope I get a different doctor and I get help ASAP if I need it.
