As our pc went pop the other week, we've bought a new one - from Ebuyer, so thanks to whoever recommended them! Thing is, it's come with Vista, and nothing seems to work with it! We download lots of stuff - Torrents and the such-like, and they don't seem to work any more. Using Azureus, normally, we just click on the torrent name, then open the file to Azureus and it just downloads it. But Vista seems to put a .torrent extension at the end of all of them, and it downlaods a tiny tiny file (less than 10k) which then can't be opened as it doesn't have a program associated with it. Anyone else have the same issue? And have you fixed it?
The problem with new machines is it invariably comes with the 64 bit Vista (rather than 32 bit) so 9 outta 10 programs are incompatible. Your only options are 1. Install the 32 bit version. 2. Buy a load of new software that is 64 it compatible. 3 Wait til 64 bit becomes the norm (all new software is released in dual format - will take a while for the free software companies to catch up). Not saying that's the issue but I know that it can be an issue. S.C> [EDIT] I read that:- but i've also read that lots of people are having problems with Azureus on vista
Thanks SC, I've also already found that info on a Google search, and done what it says, but it still won't bloody work! I don't have much pc time these days (as you'll find out in a few months! ), and I know that if I had a few spare hours, I could sort it. I was just hoping someone had a wuick fix to save me looking!
