Anyone pregnant after having a LEEP? I had a LEEP in March. I go to my first doctor's appointment today. Last time I followed up with my OBGYN she said my cervix healed great! She did mention before the procedure that having a LEEP would increase my risk for an incompetent cervix once I got pregnant.

Anyone had a pregnancy after a LEEP? Or pregnant for the first time after a LEEP?

no one?

Update: Went to my first appointment today. They said I will have an extra ultrasound due to having had the LEEP procedure.

I (stupidly) had the LEEP - now that my doctor is telling me it's going to be cause for all this extra testing and concern, I want to punch myself. I really don't think I should've had it in the first place, and now to know that it might cause pre-term labor - UGH!

Why do you think you shouldn't have had it done Love?

What kind of extra testing will we have to have? I know an extra ultrasound.

Did they have to remove a lot of your cervix?

I had a LEEP back in June. My GYN already knew we were TTC and sent me to a specialist before doing the LEEP to get a second opinion. He agreed so I went ahead with the procedure. Since we were TTC she made the removal as small as she could to still get everything. It was really traumatic and I cried because of all the emotions surrounding the procedure. I was really worried about scarring and the infertility from that. I was also worried about the incompetent cervix aspect. She alleviated my fears by explaining the procedure only slightly elevates the risk for miscarriage, and that I can have my cervix stitched closed if needed to keep my pregnancy as close to full term as possible.
In the end I am glad I did it as I didn't want to end up with cancer. It would have been a worry in the back of my mind until it was done.
Good luck ladies.

I had a leep done in Sept 2009. I have bled during/after sex ever since, and I too worried it had affected my fertility. It seems to have left me with a stupidly sensitive cervix, resulting in lots of panicking due to bleeds over the past 5 weeks. I have an obs appointment at start of December as there was a balls up with my midwife and only saw her last week :( An extra ultrasound sounds good, can't wait to speak to the Dr about it all, it has been a worry.
Happy and healthy 9 months to us all!

Yep had one in feb 2010. Had pregnancy test morning of the surgery, it was negative. I had the LEEP done and was actually pregnant. I tested positive less than a week later. Dr. Was shocked. Had baby boy 8lbs. 12 oz. 11/3/10. ;)

Can I ask a silly question, what is a 'LEEP'? Is it the same as a LLETZ in the UK? Ie where part of the cervix is removed for cancerous or pre-cancerous cells following a smear?
Is so I had one 2 years ago & my OB hasn't mentioned anything about any extra scans/risks etc on my pregnancy ....maybe I'm not right in what I think it is
