I've heard Soy can help bring on ovulation so have some ready for my next cycle (today is day 1) possibly to start around days 3-7 ish (I think??), but I'm also now reading conflicting reports suggesting as my cycle is averaging 31-32 days it might not be long enough?

Is it more suited to longer cycles and will it mess mine up if I tried it?
Been TTC for couple of months but only realised until last month how blooming hard it is, so starting to chart and feel like we're really trying at the right times now.

Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks in advance xxx

My cycles a little longer than yours and pretty irregular (35-45 days) but I tried Soy for the first time this month, CD 3-7. So far haven't O'd but didn't wanna r&r goodluck! :hugs:

I'm a 31 day cycle girl too, I would like to know abt the soy also.

I only have a 26dc but i take soy for a strong ov it moved my o day from 15 to 14 so it very well could move yours with it being longer.

Thanks for that TMR1234! I am keen to try it.

Stacy. Lets keep each other posted if either of us find out more xx

Hello,

I'm on cycle 21 and decided to give soy a go this month. (I certainly have nothing to lose!)

My reason is because i have a short luteal phase as i start spotting at 10dpo. I want to see if i can bring my o forward even if it's just by a day.

So i would say, from my research, that even if you are regular if you have issues with lp or egg strength then give it a go.

There are so many supplements out there. They work for some not for others. You will never know what works for you with all the research in the world unless you give it a go.

Good luck x

Hey, i didn't want to R&R, I've taken Soy this cycle CD1-CD5, I'm on CD17 today & not o'd yet, but my cycles are 45-60 days, so i'm hoping it will shorten the whole thing!! Lol, I'll post any progress I have :) :dust:

I wouldn't risk it. I have to take soy to get a 30/31 day cycle.. if you ovulate regularly and have a "normal" cycle length, why risk it? xx

I have a 32-day cycle. I did Soy one time CD5-9 and Od at CD20. Unfortunately, it was a :bfn: but I'm doing Soy again this cycle. It just produces stronger ovulation so I'm sure when the egg is arriving.

Ohhh real mixed views I'm not sure what to do. The reason I'm tempted to try it is that while my cycle is usually 31 days, I've had recent cycles up to 36 days and would be keen to see if I 'feel' next ovulation (never do notice much) and if it brings my ovulation forward (shortest has been 17/18 days but last couple of months been more like 22 ish).

What are the true downsides of taking it I dont think I know enough to really understand it.

Let me know how you all get on too!!! Xx

I'm currently on day 2 so might start tomorrow if I decided to?!?!

I took soy when i had a longer cycle, yes i concieved but have since had a miscarriage ;-( i was also 2 weeks after the MC diagnosed with 3 x 4cm ovarian cysts clumped together to the size of a grapefruit....from HYPERSTIMULATION of my ovaries. Probably the soy caused it coz i never took any clomid!!

If you ovulate AVOID IT!!!!

Beachlover1...that's horrible to hear what you've gone through. Thanks for sharing. I'm turning off the idea but only started to temp this week so not truly sure if I'm even ovulating.

I'm new to all this and for the first time in my life (all 37 years) I'm starting to actually take notice of every single sign, symptom or feeling. I would usually ask my partner "when was my last period? Am I due yet" YES that crap!!! Now I'm this obsessed hopefull TTC.

I do (always) have EWCM but that's all I've got to go by (even my CBFM didn't peak this month). I'm a confused newbee :-(

Xxx

Wow beachlover that's crazy! Did you only take it one cycle? xx

Where do you buy this soy at and what does it do?My cycles are 31 days and we are ttc #3...

Hi myboysrmylife! You sound just like me what CD are you on?

I got mine from Holland and Barratt cost about £8 ish and just been doing some research where I found this:

"Take roughly 80mg of soy isoflavones per day, with food. This should work out to two pill supplements, but you must check the package to determine how much is in each pill. The precise time of day is unimportant, but you should take the supplement at the same time everyday. Many women prefer to take it at night to avoid side effects during the day.
Repeat the above for 5 days, taking 80mg worth of supplement each day. Then stop! You should not continue for more than 5 days, as this could have a negative impact on ovulation and actually delay your natural cycle."

The 'Soya isoflavonws' I bought say each capsule is 750mg so I'm now more confused than ever it's putting me off giving it a go. Confuuuuussed xx

750mg?!?! What do the active ingredients say?

The 'active' say:

Daidzein & daidzin 12mg
Glycitin & glycitein 7mg
Genistin & genistein 2.5mg

:dohh:

I'm trying soy right now, just did day 2 of it. But I'm coming off birth control and haven't had a period so I don't have anything to lose! It can only help cause nothing is going on down there! lol

i've read a bunch of places soy can cause infertility. i wouldnt risk it, my average cycles are 32-33 days but i still OV about 14 days before cd1 and thats the whole thing i think

Yes soy can cause infertility, that's why they tell you to take soy isoflavones for only 5 days in the beginning of your cycle as it helps you ovulate. Eating/drinking soy based products all the time will def cause infertility by preventing ovulation xx
