i've heard this can bring on labour. i'm not at all dilated at the mo. I've got til the 4th October where i'm in for a booked c-section but I would like to try for a vbac. Thought acupuncture was worth a shot...

Anyone also thinking about this or have any experience?

I know a lot of people who have done acupuncture at about 40+ weeks... they loved it! A girl in my bradley class was a pregnancy acupuncturist and worked with pregnant ladies all the time. There is a spot between your thumb and first finger that they focus on and something near your feet. I say go for it if you have the money and your date is here!

hi bassdesire - i don't have money to burn but will look into how much it costs. a few google searches suggest could be pricey but then depends how many sessions you need. maybe one will be enough!

I actually had an acupuncture appointment 2 days ago - all day that day I had pressure and sharp cervical pains and then after my acupuncture appointment it was like he decided to crawl back up and no pain or pressure since so it's like it worked opposite for me... lol. But then again I've heard alot of good things about it from other women.

how strange! thats definitely not what you want when you shell out a load of money! how many sessions did they suggest that you would need or is it a one session thing?

ive actually been trying the acupressure points today. there are videos on youtube that show you what to so. so far just my regular braxton hicks. ive had loads of them since about 28 weeks so Im not sure if its working or not.

I'll look into both accupressure and accupuncture, not sure which is best

They suggest about 3 - luckily my insurance covers 80% >.<

Got accupubcrure fri at 38wks, labour mon and baby tuesday! €35 here...

My friend has had acupuncture done for each pregnancy - both times happened to be on a Thursday and baby was born on the weekend.

My independent midwife is also a big believer in it getting your body ready for labour. I think I may try it next week as I'm happy to wait a little longer for bubs at the moment :)

oooo liking the sound of this. unfortunately it seems to be a lot more expensive in my area. but worth it to try and avoid major surgery!
