Hi ladies!

I have been considering looking into IUI. DH and I have been ttc unsuccesfully for a year now, and at 35, I feel the need to get this ball rolling!!! The problem is, in the States you have to hope your personal health insurance will cover the teatment, and mine does not. So my question is...

Have any of you had to pay for IUI treatmets, and if so, how much were they?

You can find out by calling and asking the hospital accounting department.

Sometimes the OB/GYN receptionist should be able to tell you right away, if not, try asking for the accounting code for IUI procedures. The Accounting dept needs the codes, without them, they cannot tell you.

I'm from Oregon. My hubby's insurance only pays 50% of 6 IUIs, but not IVF :(
IUI is cheap, mine was around $150 something before insurance.
IVF can cost $10K to $20K :( :(

Thanks Bunny! I see you just had your first. Fingers crossed for your BFP hun! Im still hoping to find out in the next few days that I dont have to go that route but...

I haven't had an IUI but my RE gave me a price list of several different procedures when I had my injectable consultation. The IUI costs $200 and he gives an option to add in a second IUI in the same cycle for about another $100.

Those prices really arent too bad. I guess the prices I have seen for IVF just made me assume anything to help reproduction was going to be outrageous.

I was quoted $350 for the actual IUI procedure. I am not sure if it covers all of the monitoring/meds that goes with it.

I thought that the monthly fee was around $1,000 though, all inclusive.

The cost of the IUI itself really isn't too bad at all. It's when you add in the cost of meds and monitoring that it starts to get expensive, ugh. :dohh:

I was looking into IUI as well. With washing and etc its $360 not including u/s...and my insurance pays for the ultra sound. Still up in the air about it!

Sorry no experience, but my consultant refuses to do it. He says that the government in England are advising not to do it as it is expensive and has a very low succcess rate.

That's interesting. If it cost me $1000 for each cycle, and I did 4 cycles, that's a total of $4000 for a baby.
I think that's pretty cheap.

Hi Ladies! Hope you dont mind me butting in.. I too am 35, TTC #1 for 12 months now. DH and I decided to go ahead with IUI this month (if we dont get a BPF next by week). I am in SC & have insurance that does not cover the IUI. When I spoke to my RE he basically said that the cost of IUI will depend on which drugs you use with it (if any). Injectables will cost more but it's also a better success rate. If you opt to just use clomid with the trigger shot, it should be less. The rough estimate i was given for 1 round of IUI is $1600. I agree with another person who posted, it's not a lot for a baby but it's definetly hard when you dont have it. Then to think about 'ok what's next if that fails' can you afford a 2nd round?? How long before IVF? These are all questions DH and I started asking pretty recent. Apparently it's typical to have a 1st failed IUI cycle so i guess my question is should your plan ultimatly be to start when you know you can commit to at least 3? Hopefully you'll all get natural BFP's and you wont need to go this route but good luck if you do.. bd to all!

Hey I am sc too, the fertility center of carolina. I am currently going to greenville to get mines done(if I have too go that route. I was quoted half that price but my insurance does cover the ultrasounds(all together 600...sumthin minus ultrasound leaves me with $300 sumthin :) which one are you plan on using? My thing is that it is a lot but I can afford it but will be gutted if It Don't work. I am very selfish with money. Lol. We are planning on doing the 1st 2 cycles natural if no :bfp: then we wiill do 2 iui, with trigger. Maybe clomid...And then consider the worst...ivf! $10000 is a lot!

My husband and I have decided that IUI is as far as we are willing to go. I definitely think spending potentially a few thousand dollars all together for a couple of IUI treatments is a great deal for being able to have your own child, if you can afford it. But $10,000 and up for IVF...i dont know. I think we would adopt first. You can spend the same ampunt of money and have a 100 percent chance success rate of giving a child in need of loving parents a good home!!!

Hi hun, sorry I'm so late in replying.

At my clinic, IUI is $305.

Wow that is incredibly affordable! Im starting to do research now to see what the costs are in this area. I dont have very many places to choose from, since Im in a pretty rural area.
