I haven't been officially diagnosed yet...but I am 99% sure I have PCOS. I have my ultrasound appt on Friday. I know it's not 'curable' but are there any 'treatments' out there for PCOS?

Anyone on here with PCOS in the UK been prescribed anything or given any support for conception?

Thanks in advance.

I discovered yesterday that I've probably got PCOS, so we're in the same boat!

I'm on my fifth month of Clomid + trigger shot + progesterone in luteal phase.

I'm also on the lookout for PCOS advice and tips!

: )

Yep, I'm in the UK and have PCOS. My GP suspected it from blood tests in Feb, and put me on Metformin in March- first 500mg, then 1000mg in April which I'm still on. An appointment last month with a FS confirmed the PCOS, and now I'm on my first cycle of Clomid (on my 2nd day of pills today!). I'll get a scan to monitor how it's working on CD12.

Good luck to you! I'm sure it varies from person to person, but my FS said it's very treatable. I've also read that things like low carb/low GI diets can help, and losing weight if you're overweight.

Hi, I was ttc since April 2013. Came off pill and periods grew further and further apart until they stopped for 6 months! I went to docs n they couldn't find what was wrong , so after 12months got referred to a fertility specialist who started testing. Ultra sound scan showed poly cystic ovaries other hormone tests were ok. I had another appointment to go back in 4 month. Anyhow during that time did loads of research into pcos. I started taking inoinsitol supplement and followed a low carb diet- basically like the Atkins diet, just ate meat, lots of veggies and no pasta, potatoes, sugars, bread, rice or any other refined carbs. If I did cheat I'd have brown rice instead. I lost about a stone in the process. Also drank spearmint tea once a day. I found that my periods started coming on their own- still long tho about 36 day cycles, but i got pregnant on the third cycle and am now 8 weeks! After 18mnth ttc finally got there!! Don't give up hope there's plenty you can do even without fertility drugs.

That's good to know MissyMoo... I'm vegetarian so I worry about the not eating carbs thing... :S

And massive congratulations on your BFP!!!

Yep! Conceived my son ( now 2 yrs) on clomid & now trying again!

I wish you luck!!

Let me know if you have any questions.
