I'm getting really worried now. Ethan will be 6 months on the 26th and is showing no signs at all of being ready for solids. I did want to go down the BLW route but have tried him with baby rice, baby porridge, pear, carrot and apple ect, is reflux was getting quite bad again so on the advice of the pediatrician we started weaning about 2 weeks ago. I've just tried him with tiny spoonfuls of the above and he is not one bit interested 90% of the time he will just spit out what goes in. Every one that I know who has babies started before they were 6 months and said they were wolfing down the purees. Ethan has never been a big milk drinker either so just wondering if this will carry on to the solids. Maybe I should just wait until he is six months and start with the BLW like I had orginally planned to do?

I'd be so grateful for any advice :flower:

We started at wk 20 due to reflux but we had to stop after few wks as Omar was not ready. We gave it a try again when he was 6.5 mnths, & we only offered him real food. I started by fork mashing frm what we'r eating at 1st, then after 2 wks I was offering him food without mashing. He took it all with no problems.

(BLW didnt work for us as Omar hates the feeling of food on his hands & doesnt put anything in his mouth).

I think Isabelle is pretty much the same age as your LO and shes the seem.I have tried her so far on banana, sweet potato, parsnip and porridge and she seems to spit most of it back out. she seems happy enough when im feeding her it but just wont swallow it!!

I just posted the same concern in BLW support. Bella was perfectly fine eating from my hands but suddenly she hates it when I started just letting her do whatever she wants with food - she takes a bite and then screams bloody murder because it's in her mouth and she starts gagging. TW though is going quite well. I am so confused..

Hi

I started at 5 and half months. My little one has severe reflux so I have been quite stressed about the whole thing. She was really not interested I'd say for the first two weeks. I just carried on offering for one meal a day some days she took some others not. I have introduced two meals now but feel she never eats much, but think the first month is for taste and texture so have not rushed things - on good days I feel like this on other days I feel pressured to have her on three meals a day with dessert and get in a bit of a panic!

I would just carry on offering if not refusing or maybe try a different meal time are you offering before or after milk?

Thank you everyone!! I think I'll just continue to offer him some and if it takes it then thats good but I'm trying not to stress :flower:
